Scenario Idea...Based on Current Events

With the OTHER big news story today (the one NOT involving Anna Nicole Smith or diapers) being the US has moved an additional CVN into the Persian Gulf region in the face of rising tensions with Iran, how about a scenario causing the situation to explode into conflict? It would be a great three-person scenario, two players get a CVBG apiece (1 in the Central AG, 1 probably in the Southern AG) and one gets to control the IRGCN forces. With lots of Neutral traffic to give those IRGCN Boghammers a chance to sneak in. If that's too lopsided in the favor of the US, how about 1 CVBG, with one player controlling the carrier and associated air assets, 1 player controlling the surface and submarine assets, and 1 player acting as the Iranians? What do you think?

Maybe, we could have a combined idea? How about Anna Nicole Smith doing her final USO show for the boys aboard a carrier when war breaks out? :p

Freek Schepers started the 2nd Lebanese War battleset with the premise of using current events as a backdrop and it worked out very well, indeed.

In fact, Eric has posted a scenario, IranhattanProj, to ScenShare for testing that is very close to this idea. Two CVBGs vs. Iran over nuclear testing. I've run it a couple of times and think that the Iranians just get slaughtered, but it might serve as a good basis for implementation of your idea.

Eric's a good guy and I'll bet that he won't mind if you modify his scenario to suit your purposes when you ask him.

I noticed the scen is for Harpoon 3.7.3...does this mean I need to revert my 3.8.0, or reinstall a new copy and apply the 3.7.3 patch?

Unless I'm mistaken, I think that Eric said that he just uses the Original 3.7.0 version for his scenario-building since he didn't like messing around with Beta releases. I just tested opening it with 3.7.0 and think that is the version you need.

I have tried this scenario in 3.8.5 and it won't work with that version. If you want to try it, I recommend that you do a second installation of ANW to a different folder (path). Just be careful when you try uninstall it.

I stick with Harpooin 3.6, I play for fun, not getting mad because of a bad and premature game-version.

But that is, of course, my personal opinion:D
