An observation:

Either I just stink lately, or the AI has been improved in the latest round of patches. Minsk is especially difficult. Oh, I win, but I can't just play mindlessly now.

What gives?

From what I've seen the AI was definitely enhanced in Minsk and all the other games are being patched to bring them up to speed also.

Ya - we made a number of specific changes to the AI to make it better both on the defense and on the attack. Those changes are outlined in the Minsk Designer notes if your interested.

Games updated since the minsk rlease have this new AI and that includes NGP 85 from the MC Series as well.

....and still with that there are more experienced players who in the post below this one who still don't feel the AI challenge. To this all I can say is the AI doesn't actually learn and improve - but a human does. And with 16 or more titles in the series ow we have a lot of guys who have had years of learning. And many of those people play the AI differently than a human because they know what things they can get away with.

But I agree with you - the AI doesn't do that bad a job in shorter scn and will do even better if you

a) Play it like it is a human and don't take risks you wouldn't take in PBEM
and
b) don't save and redo any moves when you make a dumb mistake, step on a mine or get a result your not happy with. The AI doesn't do this either<g>
