Don,

Built my first map following exactly your tutorial and all went well until I attempted to load it into POA2 during the scenario making process.

The programme informed me of a possible EXC file corruption #3, some hex sides/hexlines not having a TEC index and asking me to edit the TEC index when the loading was completed.

I’d used the EXC from your South Central Iraq Map renamed the same as my custom map. Anyway I just ignored the request and completed my scenario. The map loaded and the scenario ran without any further problems.

The map I built was very simple, some hills, a small stream, woods and a building or two.

Was I correct in using the EXC that came with your map? I was unable to find a generic one with the files I downloaded. As it’s my first attempt I’m not sure what went wrong.

Okay, you should be able to use one of the ECX files that I posted with my original set. It needs to be renamed the same as whatever you named your map. Let me ask you this:

1. Did you upload the new TEC file that goes with my set?
2. Did you import the hexside/hexline definitions from my sample map?

If you did all of these things correctly, let me know and we'll continue to trouble shoot the problem.

Yes to both questions.

Just one point, the set I downloaded (POA2 Custom Symbol Set 1) did not contain an ECX file when unzipped.

Which version of ADC2 are you using? What is your POA2 version?

Send me a copy of the map and I'll take a look at it.

Don

I think it’s probably wise to start again from scratch which I’ll do first thing tomorrow.

I must have slipped up somewhere during the process. So I’ll take my time and do a proper test map, re-check the various file placements and try again.

I’ll let you know the results.

Peter,

I forwarded your map to Scott and he took a look at it. According to him you used the “Copy Hexline Definitions” utility twice and that’s what caused the error.

This is not the version on the HPS Website? Do you have a special update being tested with POA-2?

Thanks for sorting out the problem Don, I remember using the “Copy Hexline Definitions” utility twice following a save. Appreciate the support, second to none as usual.

As far as I know there is no difference between the update on HPS’s site and the version I have, they both work fine with POA2. If you would like a copy of the 2.16 Map Editor exe file just let me know and I’ll gladly send you a copy.

Not to interupt, but I had the same error and releted the ecx file then reimported the map file at the start of scenario creation. That seemed to fix it for me.... hope this helps.
