View Full Version : Updated Map Graphics all Grey????
I've tried running scens. under XP and 2K but everytime I get a map using the new symbol set, it's splotched out with grey hexes and just a few of the new graphics... followed readme instructions, even reinstalled. No luck, here's what Anyone know what's up with the garbled display... also messes up like this under ADC2 when I try to load the TEC for a new map to make following the tutorial Don wrote.
Thanks.
Okay, I did a fresh install of XP and then installed POA2 thinking it was a graphics driver issue or system issue...
Still, same splotched out grey graphics for most of the map. The files are placed in the right directory as per the readme and I've upgraded to the latest version.
Anyone have ideas?
Try changing the settings to show elevations.

Sorry I didn't get to this earlier. POA2 doesn't actiually turn "on" elevations. Since the original maps used a topographic bitmap for zoom 1 and 2, the Turn on Elevations actually toggles the primary terrain on and off. It is hidden by default, which why you were seeing gray areas when you fired up one of the alternate maps. They need to have the primary terrain turned on all the time.
I’d only have one suggestion for future maps - and that is to place some kind of blank cosmetic symbol as your primary terrain over the entire map. That way someone who has “elevation shading” turned off won’t get a gray map at first (because your primary terrain isn’t showing). The program doesn’t care - it looks at everything in the location equally.

That would in fact work, however, it would have one nasty side effect. When playing POA2 the player would see whaterver the name of this "blank terrain" was listed as the primary terrain. It would actually effect the game itself, but it might confuse some people.
