Just a quick question or two -- How long does it normally take the 3d graphics to load? Just got it, installed it, everything seems to have gone fine. Started it for the tutorial...seems to take quite a while, didn't wait long enough - running an AMD 1.5Gh, 256 Mb Ram, 64 Mb Vram, browsed trouble shooting and didn't come across anything similar...so, my presumption is -- need 256Mb more patience?

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running a 1.8 P-IV with 512 MB of RAM. The longest I've had to wait is 20 to 25 seconds. Seems like nothing compared to the wait I had in CMBO large winter battle running a 350 P II with 96 MB of RAM. Your mileage may differ.

Thanks Jag Commander! Well, I've gotten Beyond Overlord to run fine - and fast, stil no luck with Barbarossa to Berlin, so will start looking at drivers.

Pretty cool seeing an SPW 250/9 take a direct hit from an M36...ha...

I have 2 puters at home right now - 1 that i use for internet, doing my finances, etc.... and 1 for gaming.
My internet station is a 1.4 Athlon with 384 ram and a 64m Radeon video card(not sure which one, but not one of the very newest cards).
My gaming staion is also a 1.4 athlon, but has 512m ddr ram and a new gf4 ti4200 64m video card.
Now I've loaded the game on both systems, mainly because of the tcp/ip problem since my gaming station runs through the LAN for internet access, and there is a very noticable difference in the performance of the game between the 2 stations. Load times, length of time to compute turns, and the overall smoothness of scrolling around the battlefield - all are effected.
Not sure if this helps you, but remember, extra ram is always a good first step, esp. with the low cost of ram these days.

Thanks Arkai88,

I'm having to guess I have driver problems, haven't investigated too much further in this direction. Beyond Overlord occasionally locks up if I have more than one program running at a time (ACOW), no problems if I don't though.

In BB, it will load everything but the map, stays black with "loading 3D graphics...." Let it continue to load for about 20 min, didn't do anything.

I'll try working on the drivers and stuff this weekend, hope to try TCPIP...thanks for the information.

A month or two ago there were some posts, as well as cautions that came with the CMBO demo, that there were problems with certain Nvida drivers. If you have that type of video card, you might want to check those things out as well. However, I run a Gforce3 (which XP keeps updated for me). I haven't had any problems, except the common for lock up that a number of us had on the demo only.

You may also want to check the Battlefront tech problems thread on thier forum to see if others have had a similar issue.
