I want to make sure that everyone understands that this Island Campaign is really a playtest. I have done several of these type games before using SPWAW and SP2 but never with SPMBT. The rules will be modified as we go along. If problems arise we will work through them and create rules to cover them for future campaigns. Some of this will be made up by me as we go along, mostly to keep everyone involved and the game progressing. I may break fighting in a particular zone into more than 1 battle in an Operational Turn. It is not being done to interfere or penalize any one team, it is mainly to give more players chance to get involved in the actual SPMBT fighting, which is what most players are here for. No one player will control a specific unit (unless the team sets itself up that way). Battles will be assigned out among the team players by the team but I want the team to take into considered they may have others on the team who would like a chance to fight.
Questions, comments, etc., please post here.

I would like to hear about rules governing the set-up of a tactical engagements. For example, I have the idea of using Mirages to scout routes for our formations to avoid larger enemy forces when moving through a zone. Would that be possible? (I think about evacuating towns and moving to an assembly point in an other town.)
Secondly, what about reinforcing an attacked garrison in the next zone, and pulling back from a zone to avoind fighting?

That would definately be possible. Tell me more !

No units will be able to support neighboring zones during this particular campaign version.

DD,
As far as using air assets to scout free routes, my idea would be that a Mirage overhead is patrolling, finding out where the enemy is, then when it finds out, radioes down to the moving coloumn, which then can evade contact with the enemy. It should certainly be possible with British Warriors moving on the ground, they have superior mobility against anything on the island.
If the oppenenet decides to keep a screen to intercept us then it has to be a very thin screen. So using data from aircraft we can find out where a weak spot is and then break through there.
So in my opinion, using this method engagement would look like either we do not have to fight in SPMBT simply arriving to our destination without fighting (or seeing the enemy for that matter), or we would have to fight only 1-2 platoons which stand in our way.
In this case the Mirage comes down and do CAS with its cannons and rockets.
Is this possible?
My other question is - how agile Mirages are? Do we have to decide at the beginning which zone they would be available, or can we just keep them high beyond the island and direct them to the place where they are the most needed?
