PC World editor slain at California home - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/10/editor.killed.ap/index.html)

A senior editor for PC World Magazine was fatally shot in his home in what authorities said Wednesday was a drug-related attack.

Rex Farrance, 59, the San Francisco, California-based magazine's senior technical editor, was shot in the chest after four masked men broke into his home Tuesday evening, Pittsburg police said.

Always more personal, when it affects something closer to home ie our hobbies, than just faceless news items about people we would never interact with.

Read that article, and frankly, I'm inclined to agree with the son actually.

I've heard more than enough, to know, just being a police officer doesn't make you magically pure, honest, or above bias.

Okay, corrupt cops will sometimes concoct a story to help convict someone they worldn't otherwise be able to get. But making up a story about illegal drugs to pin on a dead guy?

Never assume ANYone has to make ANY sense regardless of job.

There might have been bias that predated the death. There might have been past reasons that the deceased was painted with a biased brush.

I have known bias to be this way in the past. Not targeted at me, just saying, people that it is not impossible for people to draw conclusions based on past preconceptions.

Just because a person has died, doesn't make them immune to bias.

Well, they didn't rob the place so that rules that out. He wasn't a reporter so that rules out a mob/drug cartel hit to keep him from publishing a story that would expose someone's illegal activities. I doubt it was an attempt to steal his son's "minimal" stash of medical marijuana. You don't need 4 men for that.

They shot him and pistol-whipped his wife so either he (or a member of his family) really pissed someone off or screwed them outta something. It reeks heavily of retaliation for what ever reason.
