Can you highlight a single unit in the main program or is that just an editor function?

Maybe I am missing something here but if you have a shtack of units and you want to highlight a single units you just click on that single unit (or several units) in the Unit Window and you have ONE unit (or more units) highlighted.

Sorry, I should have explained that better.
I'm talking about the new A/I orders for single units. In the main program you can select a formation and give it a destination order and the A/I will move the formation for you. But you can't highlight a single unit and give it a destination that the AI will move it to.

You can't give an AI movement order to a single unit - it will issue the order to that unit's superior formation. Do it to a regimental HQ and the entire division will get the order as an example. As you say, the single unit AI order is strictly a function of the editor.

In large scenarios, especially in winter where infantry move one hex per turn, such a feature would be a huge time saver and greatly improve gameplay.

The HPS web site descibing DF'85 says it introduces a new feature:

"Also added the ability to highlight a single unit which allows A/I orders to be given to that unit."

I would like to be able to give AI orders to an individual unit to move to a specific location, multiple turns away, using a minimum cost movement path in travel mode. Is this now possible? How is it accomplished? I can't seem to find anything about in the help files. The instructions all involve larger units, ie: Brigades or Divisions. I'm interested in controlling a single, individual unit.

This is an Editor feature - the changes.txt with the game says:

- (Editor) Added the ability to highlight a single unit which allows AI
orders to be given to individual units.

In the editor, highlight the single unit by clicking on it in the unit window and then go to the menu:

View | Highlight => Selected Unit

Then issue the AI Order, be it Active, Direct or Hold with a turn number for the first two, and the AI order is saved only of the single unit you have highlighted and selected.
