OPERATIONAL TURN 1

COMMAND: D Co/2nd Bn/2nd Rifle Bde/7th Armoured Division

DATE: February 5, 1941
GAME PHASE: 0000-0400 - Night
WEATHER: Clear
MOON PHASE: Half
VISIBILITY (HEXES/METERS): 20h/1000m
SEARCHING: 50%
HITTING: 75%
ROUT/RALLY: 75%
TURNS: 20
SCEN SLOT#: 702

SITUATION: Advancing from the Northeast you come to the outskirts of Southeastern Sidi Sultan. You need to make sure that the area is clear of any enemy so you need to clear the town itself as well as the surrounding hills (411, 412, 413 and 415).

As you stop to regroup your forces for the advance several of your men report hearing tracked vehicles to the West, far in the distance but seemingly getting closer.

DD,
I got lucky, this Scenario turned into a cake walk for me.
Only because I spotted the enemy tanks appraoching on the northern road and was able to set an ambush for them. Also the enemies lack of anti tank weapons and machineguns allowed me to take full advantage of my carriers in the fire support role.
I played it all in one sitting and it took about an hour.
Overall very enjoyable!

I got lucky, this Scenario turned into a cake walk for me.
Only because I spotted the enemy tanks appraoching on the northern road and was able to set an ambush for them.I wondered if I had placed them far enough back that you wouldn't notice them till your were engaging the forces in the village and get hit in the flank but its not like there are many places to hide them as they arrive. :upset:

Of course, playing against the Italians and the AI is not the most challenging combination.

I think these 3 1st turn scenarios will be a good start for an official User Campaign of the same theme.

The scenario file is now attached to the previous post.

Same procedure as before. Keep a copy of the end game file for future review and evaluation.

Also, if you want to post screenshots or any AAR type of info so the not involved can get a feel for what is going on that would be great. It should also help generate interest for the next, full campaign I am considering. The next one may include an OPFOR to play against as opposed to the AI so any input is important here. ;)

Done,
Once again, a cakewalk. I was very lucky that the enemy airstrikes targeted my CO's truck which was lagging behind and caused it to rout into a building and immobilize instead of getting destroyed. The AI decided to advance with it's 75mm guntruck instead of hanging back and causing me serious damage. It was dealt with quickly.

Here are some screen shotshots, start, middle and end as well as the game save file.

Need movement orders. ;)

Cameronius
26 Mar 07, 16:56
Move order as follows:6(3),1(3),6(1)

This should put D coy in a postion 1 hex south of A coy's current position. D coy will probably be held in reserve for Op turn 3.

DD, Katana,

Sorry for the delay, I finally got round to downloading the PBEM file today and I got a "Saved game file failed to load" error when I tried to open it up. I 've had this happen on occasion before and have had to start games over. I really don't know what causes this error to occur. DD any ideas?

Most of the time I've seen that is usually a version error. You are running 2.0 correct?

Also, make sure you are not overwriting an old PBeM game in that slot. I always delete any existing saved game from the slot and then unzip the new game there. Sometimes the .cmt file doesn't get overwritten properly and it can corrupt the new PBeM. Not saying it is the case in your game but I have noticed a pattern in some of the other PBeM's I played a while back.
