Charlie Coy:
First platoon leads the column keeping 100m gaps between vehicles except 2nd squad which is moving 300m ahead of the column. Second platoon follows the first 200m behind keeping 50m gaps. HQs are with second. Third platoon is 200m behind second and has 50m gaps. If contact is established second and third platoon will move abreast 200m behind first and dismount. First will dismount and
engage.

Before entering the orchard units will form up into trianglar formations with 2 squads up forming a base to the west and one squad to the the east. All squads will stay 100m apart in tiangles. The three platoons themselves will then form a larger triangular formation with 1st platoon to the WNW angle and the second platoon in the WSW angle and the third platoon as a follow up unit to the east. The platoons should maintain 200m between themselves. Also all HQ elements will be with the 3rd platoon for this part of the operation. Lyod carriers should stay with their dismounted elements as they advance to provide cover fire(do they have a MG). After clearing the orchard the formation will piviot on and advance up the large hill to the north of the town. All precautions should be taken to listen for the enemy.

After securing the hill to the imediate north of Sidi Sultan units will advance dismounted into the city to block any retreating Italian units and link up with Delta Coy. Leap frogging and cover fire should be used in the street fighting.

Sorry for the delay in orders the arieal on the radio was broken and we were out of communications.

OPERATIONAL TURN 1

COMMAND: C Co/2nd Bn/2nd Rifle Bde/7th Armoured Division

DATE: February 5, 1941
GAME PHASE: 0000-0400 - Night
WEATHER: Clear
MOON PHASE: Half
VISIBILITY (HEXES/METERS): 20h/1000m
SEARCHING: 50%
HITTING: 75%
ROUT/RALLY: 75%
TURNS: 20
SCEN SLOT#: 701

SITUATION: Advancing from the Northeast you come to the large Date Palm Orchard just north of Sidi Sultan. Before you can continue the advance into the town you need to make sure you clear the orchard of any enemy forces that may be hiding there. You will need to clear the nearby hills overlooking the orchard as well. It is dark so visibility is limited.

Just as you order your men to advance you receive a radio call from 1st Platoon. It seems that one of their Lloyd Carriers (C7) has thrown a track and will be unable to continue the advance.

By all means, do it for the enjoyment of the visitors and those interested in seeing how things are playing out here on a tactical level. ;)

Your forces have managed to reach their destination without any contact.

From the sounds of gunfire you hear coming from the Northeast and South it seems the other Companies in the Battalion were not so lucky.
