View Full Version : Intelligence
This is where we report and/or discuss intelligence matters.
I have asked some questions about planes in the 'Campaign Rules' section of the open forum, if one of you could ask another question in the next 24 hrs that might hint to them we plan to take the airfield.
:devious:
Well this bit of info wasnt to hard to get.
At the moment there are only two players on the pro gov team, this will eventually be 3 by the time we start the campaign (i spose with the info shared on here none of us will be able to join them now).
So what they are planning now is an even split of forces, because those two are there first they are going to keep the armour and the 3rd player gets only infantry. I think this info is reliable about 95% because i would expect the person i know to do that.
Also, they seem to be planning to operate independantly, that is no CO coordinating and others helping with suggestions and coming to an agreement( which is how i see our command structure operating)
This could mean they plan to operate in different areas like north or south.
Although i wouldnt consider this info to be as reliable as the other information, i do think its more than 60% chance of happening.
With this in mind it seems the biggest force we will encounter initially is 3.3 inf companies and a platoon of armour. So in your opinions do you think that in the initial stages we do not go under 2 companies per zone (not counting recon) that way if we run into one of these battlegroups we could safely retreat or defend (or have a good chance too). What do you think could 2 inf companies defend themselves against their proposed force?
I`ve also asked for further info concerning the airfield. The art of deception may prove a master stroke!

So what are you saying? They have a security leak ;)

It could be a leak it could be disinformation
Got some more info, it seems they will be spread between north and south.
Also i am setting up a small battle with Skirmisher, of course i will play like a fool and stumble straight into his guns making him think im a total idiot and give him a false sense of securtiy next time we meet. :devious:

You guys crack me up and is one of the reasons I like running these type games. It allows for role-play and stuff without the sometimes boring repetitive ladder or tournament type play.
I can always intercept the locals at the bridge and ask them where the government forces are ;)

Im going to post the last correspondence I sent and have recieved from the UN.
This is from me:
General
You didnt think i would be foolish enough to actually split my forces in such a way did you?
I saw you coming a mile off General, but all is fair in love and war i hold no grudge.
We can still help each other out, but please this time don't be so foolish as to try your doublecross again please. You slick Europeans were not the only ones blessed with cunning you know, we islanders can mix it with the best.
Now lets get down to some real business. you still have your northern forces alive and well and i am prepared to make a deal to keep it that way. However it may cost you some 'hardware' for your insolence.
I am prepared to allow your forces to WALK out of our northern area of operationsas long as you do it immediately. Zone F behind Zone G is unoccupied, you will move your infantry their at once leaving your armoured units behind. Your troops in Zone C will move directly to Zone M and keep moving till they reach your own lines.
Think yourself lucky i dont parade your officers down the main street with their pants around their ankles! Some of my subordinates would like to see that but i am a more civilised man than that, as you will find in future dealings with us.
Please stay alive General i like you, you have guts, it would be a pity to see any ill fortune come your way.
Sincerely
Citizen General Temujin.
And this is the reply:
C. General,
I think you miss some points here:
-first of all before parading somebody you have to capture that person.
I am not aware of any of my officers missing yet.
-By compromising our neutrality you make a serious mistake. I am not
sure if you want government forces gain excellent intelligence on your
troops. You would not belive what we know from satellite intelligence.
It is not very valuable to us, but I am sure the government would love
it.
-If you insist taking G we might also offer some helicopters to the
government. How would you like that? (Our air force can protect us
from those any time, it is only a danger to your ragtag forces.)
-There is a US Marine MEU offshore this island. If UN is attacked, they
can deliver you some very serious blows.
-I still do not want to have grudge with your forces, like I told, I am only
intereseted in protecting my troops and keeping as much civilians safe
as I can. I gave you the city of A, and I could have given you J and G as
well. If you want success in the hard way, then do it, but be prepared
for the worst.
As a temporary measure I am calling on you to halt your forces heading
toward UN-occupied areas - then we can hold further talks. If you insist
on your foolishness, at the end of the day you and your thugs will be
paraded and hung.
Sincerely yours,
Lt.Gen. Tóth

Its funny stuff i think.
I was thinking we could reply to this in the open diplomatic forum, maybe using Aristides adept use of the written word.
The response should include these main points:
1) The fact that they were planning to doublecross uss by supplying intel on our positions to the enemy and were planing to withdraw from A and J to reinforce G so that the rebels and the government would be forced to fight it out in the north under terms set by the UN.
2) We have ears in both camps too (not really but lets see if it makes them paranoid, it should do if i am right about their doublecross plans. ps. don't mention anything in brackets to them Aristide)
3) Tell them it is wise to side with us as he will know from his talks with the Governemnt leaders that they are inept and jittery, having no stomach to fight this style of bitter campaign. We are the obvious talent in this campaign so it is best he keep on our side.
If anyone wants to add to that feel free to do so.
Remember to keep the tone 'nice' we want them to see we are the natural leaders of the Island and they should not go against us too much and offer them assisstance whenever they need it or a ceasfire in G.
Temujin,
is there still some kind of a behind-the-curtain diplomacy going on with the UN? It seemed useful in the sense that they could be tricked into revealing some information, while we could use desinformation as well. So if there is not one, I think we should restart it. If they do not trust you, I can try it, either as "new commander" (see my plans for the diplomatic forum) or by disillusioned "traitor." We should use every possibly channel.
K
(Now I am done with my exams, so I have LOTS of time to engage in this campaign!) :)
go for it, i sent a quck message in the diplomatic area, use that to claim an overthrow of my stupid postcolonial anti-western ideas. make yourself seem more willing to negotiate with the west.
