This caught my attention but the question is, is it worth it. Btw I want to buy an MMORPG, but not one with fees. Any suggestions or more detail about the game?
I'm going into PC gaming too much :|
Guild Wars is great if you have a good group of people to play it with - unfourtunatly because it's a non-fee MMO it's kinda filled with morons and i've had much more enjoyable experiences playing MMOs like Everquest II or Ragnarok Online that have smaller userbases. That being said, Guild Wars is still great fun - I didn't spend much time with the PvP side of things, but questing with mates was still good fun, and the game is pretty deep with lots of things to do but ultimately I left it for the far more immersive world of EQ2. It's technically not a proper MMORPG either, the developers coined the term 'CORPG' to describe Guild Wars, but it also applies to games like Phantasy Star Online/Universe whereby the only MMO portion of the game takes place in lobby-like areas where players can chat, trade and form small groups - you can then go and quest with this group, but this takes place seperately from the MMO side of things and you won't encounter other players in the wilderness like you do in true MMORPGs like WoW or EQ2.

Yea, I've played WoW for a while, and Wow, it's one hell of a game. Only thing stopping me its the fee D:
Played almost all of them. Guild Wars is a favorite for exactly the same reason you're looking at it - no monthly fees.
WoW was great, but it paled rather quickly. Endless repitition. Go to A, get B. Repeat, but sub in C and D... ;) I actually preferred D&DO to WoW.
My suggestion would be to get GW, and give it a shot. The cost of the game is not all that high, and don't they have combo packs available now that come with the first expansion? At any rate, the purchase will allow you unlimited play with no fees, and will cost you about the same as 2 - 3 months of subscription to one of the standard games out there. It's your least outlay for your greatest return, so it's definately a great place to start.
The only real alternative is to go with the big boys, and then you're looking at considerably more money invested. With GW, you can always get your money's worth out of it, and then upgrade to one of the more expensive games if you feel you require the change.

The question is, would I get bored of it?
Probally not if you find a good guild to join and get into the PvP side of things - but general questing, even in good groups, gets pretty boring after a while.
GW also has something I really like - solo questing. And I don't mean just playing by yourself and taking on everything - they have special difficulty settings for quests that allow you to play through without grouping. I enjoy groups, but sometimes I just want to cruise around by myself, and try out new skills, new tactics, etc. I really enjoyed this aspect of GW.
Also - as to getting bored - I got bored with WoW and D&DO, so there's no hardcore guarantee either way. You can get bored of anything sooner or later!
YMMV! :D

Well I got GW on Saturday and I'm having so much fun with it. I'm almost a level 8 W/Mo. I'll get factions next. Assassins for the win :D
Glad to hear that you're enjoying it!
