Probably it's the 10th time I am trying to finish successfully the scenario. And tonight I managed to! But I would like to let you know how things have gone with a brief AAR, since it seems to me a rather odd success:

Please note that if you never played this scenario, the AAR could contain SPOILERS!!

at the beginning, I have sent, as usual, the three Longbow platoons to destroy the BMPs in Obj Alamo (keeping them at security distance). At PL Travers the 3rd Platoon detects some infantry around LZ W, Y and Z and takes care of them too. All goes fine and advancing little by little towards Obj Alamo, all the BMP3s are killed. This happens roughly in the first 7 minutes.

The 1st and 3rd Apache plt then fly over Obj Alamo and take out the fire teams in the area one by one. The 2nd plt flies more to the north where it detects artillery and other fire teams. Shortly also these enemy units are killed.

The only loss is one single Apache.

Usually, at this point, A and B Blackhawks companies have arrived and in my previos attempts, I have sent them to LZ V, W or X where they have unloaded their infantry. This time, having secured almost completely Obj Alamo, I have decided to send A coy to the clearing near VQ88004100 and B coy directly over Shugart-Gordon, both inside Obj Alamo.

It is with my big surprise that once A Coy flies over Obj Alamo, the Scenario End pop up window appears, telling me that all objectives have been fulfilled!

Is this another way to win the scenario?
Did I cheat in some way, by sending A and B coy directly to Obj Alamo? :halo:

The objective is to clear all enemies out of Alamo and get a specific number of friendlies into Alamo in a time limit. You are rewarded if you are cautiously audacious (;)), and penalized if you take too long, as there is a chance you may encounter quite a bit more armor.

Keep in mind that there are THREE different enemy battle plans for this scenario, so the same plan will NOT always work!

Congrats on your win.

good utilization of those Apaches to clear ALAMO. If you don't use them correctly, the Apache can be murdered by the BMP3. Especially good, I thought, was your use of the Apaches IN DEPTH, instead of linearly. Killing that Arty FDC N of ALAMO is a good example of that. I assume you had Apaches controlling all movement into and out of ALAMO, particularly Artillery Rd. The fact that you didn't kill a lot of air assault troopers is the best result however, IMO!

I continue to think AATF's Apache is over-lethal with the 30mm and under-lethal with the Hellfires, but that is just me, and I don't have a problem playing the game that way :)

Charlie Mike - I look forward to your continued success on XRAY, Mog City, and Whale!

James-

in the previous 9 attempts to win the scenario, I regularly lost almost all Apaches, mainly because I sent them too close to BMPs, within the radius of their weapons. Once I understood that I could kill the enemies at safe distance, all was easier!

This time I was also lucky because T90s didn't show up.

I noticed, too, the under-lethality of Hellfires. The BMPs were mostly destroyed by the 30mm gun, instead. Hellfires managed only to suppress the vehicles.

You are all set to command an attack squadron! :)
