Hi there! Me again!

I'm having an issue trying to issue waypoints. This problem happened after playing for an hour so i.e. issuing waypoints was fine up until this point.

I've attached a couple of screen shots to help me explain.

I airlifted in Company D in JRTC02 to LZ Y as shown in image A. Then I tried to issue a waypoint to get the AT platoon to move east.

When I right-clicked away a stop waypoint appears over the units current position even though I'd never issued a stop order (image B). The terrain is clear so the unit (humvies) shouldn't have any problem moving.

BUT THEN I tried to cancel and start again (image C) and a strange 'O' graphic appeared in place of the cancelled waypoint. In the screenshot you can see the result of my previous attempts i.e. more O's dotted around.

The end result is that the AT platoon remains immobile BUT I NEED THEM DESPERATELY ELSEWHERE!!!!!

Can anyone shed any light?

Also, any suggestions on destroying T90E's? Hellfires just seem to bounce off them!

Many thanks!

Fairly simple...you dropped your AT platoon into an LZ with an obstacle! It is a wire obstacle, and they aren't prepared to breach it! Try giving them a waypoint to the WEST to get them away from the concertina wire, and then going around the area, or you can also select the "Bypass Obstacle" command, and they SHOULD start trying to go around the obstacle to reach the waypoint on the other side of the obstacle.

A little hint about this scenario - you offloaded your stuff in LZ's far to the South - you'd be better served securing the northernmost LZ and bringing all of your AASLT stuff in there.

Just a tip.

As for Hellfires, they do, indeed, kill T-90s! You should try to get your AH-64s into a good position to defend against the armor near Shughart-Gordon once you take out the BMP3s. One way is also to get your AT platoon into position along the firebreak road (where the power lines run E to W just N of Shughart-Gordon). They can bring their TOWs to bear right down that road. There are other ways to do it as well, and there's no single best way to do it.

Hope this makes sense!

Aha! Another case of those annoying obstacles eh?!

I think I've learn't my lesson now.:o

As for the T90's. I have a pair of Apache's with virtually all their Hellfires and another single a/c with 2 or 3 left. By my calculation that's well over 20 missiles yet not one tank has been destroyed to date after all the ordnance has been expended (I saved the game shortly before the tanks arrive so I've had a couple of goes at this!:devious: ). I even tried manouvering the Apache's to fire from the tanks' rear, but had no success.

Thanks for the tips - will have another go later (I would say resorting to Plan B, but I'm probably up to Plan F now!!!!)

Great game!

Cheers!

I'll take a look at the Hellfire pK (kill probability) info - maybe we need to beef them up, but realize that you are firing in a wooded area, and that decreases the pH (hit probability).

not to be nit-picky about weapon models, but those AH-64Ds would fire the Longbow Hellfire ATGM (the L variant, the first, and I think only, truely 100% 'fire and forget' ATGM in world), which has a mm wave radar seeker. That radar should not be affected much by woods - or smoke, or lead walls, or anything else the enemy puts up. And that missle will kill just about anything it hits (OK, maybe not a battleship).

I know you guys love fielding these "data geek" issues, which is why I'm chiming in  You can thank me later... ;)

The Hellfire Longbow is not quite the superweapon it is purported to be. Underbrush and veegitation will frequntly cause premature detonation.

That having been said, we will check out the model and database.

hehehe... a US weapon system not working as billed !?!?!

One variant of the Hellfire that I have seen in action is the thermobaric overpressure model. Wow that bad boy does a number on everything and anything in a tight cover/concealment BP (buildings, vehicles, caves, ditch, etc). Nasty weapon.

Funny you mention that particular weapon...it was used, I believe, during OIF...;)

Curt,
I would guess thermobarics were used in OIF, but I don't know for sure. I do know they were being used in Afghanistan when I was there in '04/'05. In fact, the thermobaric was our requested ordance because you could use one and have a chance at recovering some intel, whereas nothing would be left if a GP or frag hit it. As an intel guy, I was into that left-over sh*t . Unfortunately, not a lot of thermobaric ordance was available, whereas we could get stacks and stacks of GP and GBU. No question it is the direction ordance is going in the future, especially in a MOUT, Counter-Terrorist environment.

PHEW!!!
Just finished JRTC02!
Thanks for the tips Curt, couldn't have done it without your help!.
All enemy forces were destroyed with the loss of 4 AT humvies (my mistake there), 4 fire teams and 2 PL HQ teams.
The T90's were defeated by infantry ATGM teams and the brave AT humvies who paid the ultimate price!

Next posting - Vietnam!!!!

RBG out!:D

Glad to hear you are having so much fun playing the scenarios
