In a recent, amazing discovery, it appears as though the original theme song for Metal Gear Solid, arranged by TAPPY, was in fact taken from a Soviet flute piece from the Cold War period.

Wow, its pretty shocking how much the MGS tune is like this piece! :surprise: Both the MGS1 theme tune and "Winter Road" by Georgi Vasilyevich Sviridov are available to compare at MGS-TUS if you follow the link.

Well Georgi Vasilyevich Sviridov died in 1998 so I guess not, unless whoever owns the rights to the piece decides to sue.

Lol, although strictly speaking it was TAPPY's fault (the person/people who made the original MGS1 theme tune), Hideo Kojima may be none the wiser that the tune was nabbed from Georgi Vasilyevich Sviridov.
