View Full Version : Knytt - and other awesome freeware games
This is one of the most enjoyable games i've played for ages, really atmospheric and entertaining - I completed it in one sitting because it was so addictive, but i'm bound to play through it again. Reminds me of that old-school classic 'Commander Keen' but it has this great melancholy vibe to it provided by the great music and ambient sounds, not to mention the strange array of character and creatures you'll meet. Check it out;

Freeware games from Japan - HongFire Anime Network (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52951)
A list of freeware games from Japan, Mainly RPGs and Bullet Hell shooters.
Awesome post, I can't get enough of crazy Japanese shooters :thumup:
Recently i've been playing alot of this odd ascii platformer called Owata;
人生オワタ\(^o^)/の大冒険 for FLASH (http://blog53.fc2.com/k/king75/file/owata.html)
Weirdest platformer i've seen, makes no sense - z jumps and x shoots - n, o and v do stuff too, but I think it's a work in progress as I can only get so far.

Looks like its based off of some memes from Futaba channel, Either get killed by a spike trap or pedobear jumps on you. :crosseye:
:laugh: I see that Pedobear thing on the neogaf forums alot, is it from some Japanese anime or somthing?
Anywho, the creator updated his Owata game today to include a insanely hard end of level boss.

According to the Lurkmore wiki:
Pedo Bear
Another ASCII art creature. This one, predictably, looks like a bear and is often sighted with lolis. Spawned the Pedo Bear Seal of Approval shopped from old Nintendo games. Originally "Kuma" from 2ch, who is not a pedophile at all, is a nature lover, and supposedly hates Ronald McDonald.
A few users started an in-joke whereby one would post Osakaphone saying something, and the other would post Kuma with a response. As the posts began getting more and more sexually oriented, paired with the innocence and widely-held immaturity of Osaka, led some to dub Kuma as being "pedo" for her. Now Pedobear is placed after pictures of underage anime girls.
