View Full Version : Experience?
I just thought id get the ball rolling and ask how much experience everyone has in spmbt and also line up some games with those who havnt had any experience in it (if that is the case). We should also start playing scenario's amongst each other that replicate the up and coming battle conditions.
I have played about 5 pbem games, (against one opponent) and probably 20 or 30 games against the computer. I have enough knowledge of the game to say ATGM's suck if they are in enemy hands and rock if you have em.
Hi, I`ve played several (must be about 8) PBEM games against about 3 different opponents. I play this game nearly exclusively against human opponents, only dabbling with games against the AI.
This looks like its going to be a challenge as there is little armor involved... Not many nasty ATGM`s to contend with ;)
I have found that i use more infantry in spmbt in general anyway. Especially with modern MBT's, losing a tank costing 500 points to some footsoldier with a atgm or even a fire and forget weapon is just too stressfull for me, so i tend to go for mech infantry with a bit of armour in support.
But i like the idea of restrictions in what we can buy, this makes it interesting i think.
Certainly, the key (I think) is a good mix of forceswith both MBTs and the classic combined mech infantry (bradleys :)) goes a long way.
The restriction on the force pool will create that extra twist.
Have you ever used modern Italian froces? they have a s**tload of infantry units to choose from, they have come along way since WWII.
I am playing a game atm me Italy vs Britain via email.
Have you ever used modern Italian froces?
No, haven`t played them. One interesting battle I had was Switz against Austria. Very balanced contest (forces wise)
I`m sure the Italian forces have come along way from WW2 :)
Ok it seems you blokes have experience with the force structure, what i want to know is what type of AT capabilities do our infantry squads have and if you had the chance to try them out how effective were they?
Looking at the OOB, the forces are evenly matched, but the UN forces seem very strong, having Dragon and spigot ATGMS so our AFVs need to be particularly carful.
The warrior AFVs of the UN can be very effective. The only real AT capabilities that we have are the RPG unit, which, i feel, need to get very close to be really effective
We need to get an element of surprise. Maybe pass on propoganda to the UN that we intend to hit one target and hit another.

I agree, i think we need to play this smart, also a freind of mine who lives in the same city as me is playing on the pro gov side.i think i can gleen some info of him, even if it is only his force structure, at the same time i will feed as much disinformation to him as i think he is willing to beleive. i dont want to make it to obvious that i am passing info on or he will suspect something is wrong.
Aristide seems to be new here and if he were to ask a question about attacking the airport in the public forum that might start the ball rolling, also we could ask alot of questions about airpower in the open forum.
this should raise some suspicions from both teams.

Gentlemen,
Apologies for my late arrival on the scene. I'll try & reply to all threads tonight so that we can hit the deadline. My experience runs to 4 pbem games (2 opponents), plus many against the AI, both internal scenarios & campaigns of my own making.
I see us as slightly (but only slightly) stronger than the pro-government forces. Given our mission, my first thought is that, if & when we come up against UN forces in the field, we aim to conduct holding actions, ie lose as few as possible, give a little ground, and melt away into the bush if we have to. (A bit of diplomacy on the open forum may help!)
As far as the pto-govs are concerned, we can do well against them with what we have - more would be nice of course. My reading is that this all depends on how aggressive the UN are going to be - if their mission is to wipe us out, we have to rethink & fast.
Temujin, you're right - I'm new to the forum, so a handle on some of the characters involved would be useful if you - or anybody else - has it. What I don't have are your jumping off points - is anybody close to teh airport?
Probably more on another thread.
Aristide
