Scenario Title/version: Hube's Pocket v. 2.0
Scenario Author: Unknown (probably hiding)
Era/Turns: Jan 5, 1944 - Apr 25, 1944
Location/Map Scale: SW of Kiev, 10 km/hex with 1/2 week turns
Balance Notes: Even
Entertainment Notes: There is no entertainment here.

Game Play Notes (Force 1): Soviets Attack. Early on, you can make a few advances. Watchout for overstacking. Don't use your air force - at all. Keep attacking however useless it may seem, as it is more or less useless.

Game Play Notes (Force 2): Axis Defend, patch your lines. You can't build defensive positions more than 3 lines from the front, Partisan activity which should end by T6 WILL NOT -- give up on hex conversion and just station a battalion every 2 hexes along your main supply routes. Shorten the perimeter every once in a while. Don't believe scenario design notes. Don't counterattack, except against the small pocket of Russians that emerge behind your front lines.

Summary:

Whoever designed this piece of crap should be put in prison for torturing humans. The "v 2.0" might signify that it's been playtested...if so, the lack of credits implies that they probably killed themselves before finishing it. Scenario designer probably in hiding. Awful, worst scenario I've ever seen in any GAME SYSTEM, EVER.

Not a single Railroad repair engineer in the entire Axis OOB. Partisans will own more of the map than all Axis forces, unless you devote all Axis forces to hex conversions. Forget about rail transport. Me-109's showing as Heavy Bombers. You could counterattack...seems about as useless as the Soviets attacking the Axis line. They'll make dents, make some advances and wear down your supply, but overall that doesn't make a lot of difference. Don't expect too many tactical rounds as EVERY DANG FORMATION IS ON INTERNAL SUPPORT -- includes all your corps level assets, SS, Guards, Army HQ's...except air assets, on both sides.

Currently at T25 as Axis with an SV -- shouldn't have been surprised by a mech corps entering 300 km behind my front line...but, well...

I hope to never have to play this scenario, or anything like it again. If it came to a choice between this scenario and 20 years in a max. security prison sharing a cell with a hundred big dudes named Bubba, I would really have to think very seriously about it. If only 50 big dudes named Bubba, there wouldn't be a second's thought.

:) I am the person playing as the Soviets against Heinz57.

I am also currently playing as the Axis scenario against Rangerbooboo.

Everything Heinz57 said is true :)

Seeing the game from both sides you see some serious flaws in the scenario.

I used this scenario to hone my own skills, and I want to thank Rangerboo and Heinz57 for giving me some pointers thus far.

Partisans, ouch they are out of control like a disease gone rapid, hmmm maybe DAWN OF THE DEAD :)

Soviet Reinforcements coming in the rear, oh BTW next to a major objective and if lost the German supply is reduced by 8. Sheesh, you would think the Germans would see a horde of Soviets coming. Note if you plan it as the Axis you can encircle and destroy them easily, just a few dug in units around the entry point and they are encircled and die.

Soviet Air, well it sucks.

No Rail repair for the Germans.

I think you can go on and on. This is only my 2nd and 3rd game, and it has given me the chance to learn the mechanics of the game, which has assisted me with the ongoing tourney.

BTW this could be a really great scenario with some adjustments.

Since the author is unknown, I might tweak it and playtest it.
With suggestions above, I am sure there is plenty of advice :)

His name is Fabio Mazzucchelli, and his e-mail address (or was) fabiofotomoto@libero.it. The scenario, with his commentary, is on Rugged Defense at http://www.the-strategist.net/RD/scenarii/display_scenario.php?Id=87. Perhaps you could forward some suggestions to him.:)
