Oh and the stupid free 48hr xbox live gold trail code wouldn't work i was gonna use that then order a prepaid card for 12months service and save a fiver on the cost of 12months live but cus it didn't work i just bought Gold from within my live account.

Thats why it took me so long to enter the game after coming on live i was trying to get my xbl upgraded to gold :rolleyes:


Anyway i got XBL gold for a year now so don't have to worry about that ;)

might have to get the wireless thing depends if my new router supports wireless distrubution system, if it does i can stick my spare router (its a cable/ethernet router rather than a dsl router) into WDS mode and plug the xbox into the back of it via wired and have it connect to the wireless lan via WDS and save myself buying the xbox adaptor ;)

Between them its a hard decision... Graphics wise, they're both really good and im only watching it on a Standard-Def TV. If you want lots of blood gore, violence, and strategic moving and teamwork stuff then GOW, if you want an FPS with great graphics, an atmospheric soundtrack and (so far) cool story line then COD... But if you can afford it get both because imo they're totally different which contradicts everything I've just said... If I could only get one then It'd be GOW...

Monitors have more DPI and a better refresh rate I think so it looks better.

Computer monitors operate at a lot higher resolutions than a TV.

Infact some of them go higher than HDTV

mine does 1440x900 closet i can set on the xbox is 1360x780 but as its fairly close to the tft's native resoltuion its not to noticeable

Some games output in 1280x760 which i believe is the equivilent of 720p

Ive also played it on a 17" tft monitor at 1280x1024 and apart from not being widescreen it looked great :up:

Is that the mikomi lcdtv? I used to use that via VGA in and although it had the resolution the responce time wasnt that great and i also had problem seeing in darker areas.

The Pc monitor is much clearer and also no motion blur but then its a much better screen than the tv.

my 17" widescreen lcdtv cost me 250 and although its ok for tv the responce time is a tad slow and it tends to motion blur a lot also dark areas dont show that well.

In comparison my 19"widescreen lcd PC monitor (which cost me 130) has an execllent reponce time (5ms) and shows up dark areas MUCH MUCH clearer.

its annoying it does not cost 150 + for a tv tuner a couple of scart ports and a IR reciever lcd tvs are a rip off your paying though the nose for the sake of having a few more electronics in there that are probbaly worth about a tenner.

i mean Pounds of course the keymap for this keyboard seems to stop the symbol working i just get a # come up instead.

they make switch boxes let you switch between multiple computers, its called a KVM dunno how cheap you can get em and if they'd switch the video for the 360 though depends on how they are triggered. (some use a keyboard hotkey to switch which prob wouldnt work with a 360)

i use a scart switchbox to swtich the audio between the pc and the 360 with regards to video im lucky as my monitor has a DVI and a VGA port and doesn't mind if i leave them both connected it just switches to the active one if both are active it comes up and asks which one i want when i turn it on. or i can switch via the onscreen menus.

I don't play sound from the PC through the monitor speakers so I'm ok with that, I just need to swap the VGA cable at the back when I want to play the 360.. And its a minor inconvenience I'm willing to put up with :D

tell me about it, when i bought mine it was a pretty good price but im not overly impressed with it :down: but i don't watch it that often usally watch the downstairs tv tbh

It does what i want it to so i'll keep it for a while longer.

Once the prices come down some more i might get a samsung one or something to replace it with.

they might just change the dvd drive.

its just if they change your console your downloads wont work when you not connected to live :eek:

its usually that they are locked to the console you bought them on but any other console whist being signed into live e.g as soon as you go offline your downloads stop working.

I think u can call microsoft and get them to reset the drm on your downloads if you tell em your xbox died and they replaced it.

The button layout at first, and also I wasn't prepared for how hectic it could be - plus I was playing it split screen, I imagine it'll be much easier on full screen. It seems like it has a fairly steep learning curve, no worse than the curve in games like Rainbow 6 or GRAW though.

don't really matter much cus he can just get the HD later.

Personally it was the fact you got a wireless controller with premium, for me that makes it worth having... I've enough wires to trip over as it is and the 360 wireless controllers are really well designed.. I like how unlike preivous wireless controllers that relied on dongles the wireless for these is built in.

But also because of that and the fact the 360 controllers are in 2 way communication with the xbox (i.e the xbox can send them data as well as them send the console data) if the batteries die on you the 360 notices and pauses the game (in most cases, doesn't when your online i don't think.)

dark very hard to see? sorta a light grey backlight bleed though? Yep thats a mikomi tv right.

Try VGA cable and the pc monitor, thats what i did much better image than the mikomi tv :up:
