View Full Version : Whats so great about it?
Ok, first of all let me clear the air, i admit that x-box live is just fantastic and i know you al lthink so... but it seems as if x-box more or less relies on it's online play.
Therefore, it begs the question, for somone without broadband access and would rely entirely on a single player experiance, what is the attraction for 360, graphics asside?
Say if i was to consider actually buying a 360, what games could it offer me that are just great that no other platform has?
It seems to me that any single player game on 360 that is even partly entertaining is oblivion, but you can get it on PC as well with more in it. Call of duty is also available of PC and easier to control at that.
And i don't want replies saying "dude gears of war is going to own", because i am not interested in games that are not yet released.
So please tell me, for somone like me, who is also not planing on getting broadband any time soon, is there even a point to buying a 360? I am yet to find a reason that would warrant me forking out around $800 AUD for one of these and a game...
Waits for bootaaays essay* :p
If your going to buy a next gen and with no Broadband, then go for 360. I mean PS3 will also require it :p
But yer i get what your saying about live, kinda halves or cuts of 3qrts of the 360's value seeing as though thats what the main popularity subject has been.
i havent used xbox live yet and i play everyday
im gettin it soon tho
one reason... dead rising
the controler is also real great and a huge improvement over the old one xbox one :D
exactly my point... so why buy one?
This is why i opted for Wii and i'm still unsure about PS3...
edit: @ pomp - i also think the controler looks sooo ugly and the d-pad looks as tho it would control like a whore on crack...
also dead rising is one game i have always been interested in.. but thats still not enough reason to buy a 360 for me
EDIT EDIT: also ANYTHING is an improvement over using a mobile home as a controler...
Lol forgot about Wii (please dont kill me :o ) Wii is for u mate ;)

lol i'm getting a wii either way.. i just want to know where the hype in 360 is besides dead rising and live...
even my gf finds 360 pointless and overpriced for what it is (at single play glance)

Since I got my 360 my old Xbox has been turned on once and my PS2 maybe twice. In twelve months. I've thoroughly enjoyed Kameo, PGR3, Saints Row, Dead Rising, Test Drive Unlimited, Oblivion and Dead or Alive 4. I love the freedom of wireless controllers, I love the user interface (although a lot of this is better because of Live), I like that I can stream music from my PC into any game.
I'm not gonna compare it to the PS3 or Wii simply because I haven't played either of those. I'm just gonna say I love my 360 and I don't regret buying it one bit... Although my fianceé does because its a time eater and I'll sit there with a blank expression on my face drooling at the graphics while she tries to hold a conversation with me.
Oh and the Dpad sucks ass but I've only used it for DOA4 and you can use the thumbstick in that.
Even without Live the 360 is worth buying as there are so many games out there with a superb single player experience. I owned my 360 for a month before I even put it online and didn't regret buying it once.
However, I am old school and still prefer single player games to be honest.
...see i also can't stand using thumbsticks in fighters lol... and i played PGR3 at toys are us and it was so boring that i almost died..
Also as i said oblivion is also on PC with more stuff, so no point in getting x-box for that... TDU is one of the few other games i might find interestiung (i still have TD2 on my 386 lol)
I also played a bit of kameo and it seemed like an ok game... i only had 5 mins at it tho..

My PC wouldn't like Oblivion... Its 2 years old now.
TDU is great... The online part is seamlessly integrated but without that you still have 140 or so races and challenges around a lifesize recreation of Oahu
Oh and considering I pay £40 a year for Live I can't say I actually play online much. I'm not into talking to people using the headsets (I hate phones). I just have a few friends and a few folks from Sengo on my friends list to message now and then when new games come out.
However, I am old school and still prefer single player games to be honest.
Ditto, thats another reason why i'm not planning on getting broadband..
Also, the prob is most 360 games here in aus cost around $100-120... needless to say thats huge...
If you guys think there are some awesome X-box 360 EXCLUSIVE titles then let me know what they are, beacause i am really stuck in an attitude of apathy for this console at this point...
Please don't point out wireless, even gamecube had wireless and most people hate gamecube (although i love my GC lol)
But you are implying the only reason to own a 360 is if you are into online gaming. This is far from the truth. The fact it has the best online support of any console (including the PS3 I might add) thanks to Live is an bonus.
lol no no, you missunderstand me my friend..
i am saying that the biggest attraction for the 360 is it's online play and that as a singleplayer type of gamer i am finding it hard to find things attractive about the 360. All i have ever heard about 360 is online... no one ever says how good somehting is single player... i am getting no info here for me, thats why i made this thread.
This way if there is more to the 360 than just live, i can learn. The last thing i ever want is to be bias towards any one console... i am just finding it hard to see much attraction to 360, especially when it comes to exclusive titles...
I don't have XBL because I don't see a reason to pay for it right now. I do play FFXI on the 360 but thats free through XBL.
Every system has some games that make the system worth it. Single player and multiplayer.
It seems to me that your genre of games are (from what I can tell) are platform games. Nintendo does have the most of those (unfortunetly many are aimed at younger audiences)
To me..I'm a JRPG freak...thats why I love PS3...my second love is FPS's and Strategy..which is why Xbox 360 is my 2nd fav system.
I also compiled a list of exclusives on another thread this morning.
lol actually my favorite games are RPG (of any kind), action, fps and yes i do enjoy platformers.
racing games have gotten a bit tedious for me lately as they never offer anything too new... but yes, PS3 is goin gto have some amazing titles... WKS is big draw point for me there...
Anyway, i digress. It's just to me taht at this point microsoft are stalling for more tittles... but the same thing kinda happened with the original x-box... maybe in a year or sothere will be alot more there that will encourage me to buy one. After all, the original x-box now has an awesome back-catalogue..
anyways guys, keep coming with the info and feedback, i appreciate it very much
