View Full Version : Dagger5 vs. Snefens
I have sent a mail to Dagger with an open request regarding the TOs. He only just answered me, saying he had been away for a while and needed the next couple of days to get into the scenario before getting back to me.
Ok, We agreed on historical setup.
Do I select "Little Saturn" TO on turn 4 or on the 4th active turn (turn 5)?

Do I select "Little Saturn" TO on turn 4 or on the 4th active turn (turn 5)?Select it on your turn 4 so it is active on turn 5.
Dagger couldn't open my first turn, so we had to do it over, so we are first now getting started.
Just wanted to be sure before I began moving, but that Brandenburger unit now allows me to move DON front freely, right?

If someone wants to take a look at the file I've attached it. Feel free to comment.
Compared to some of the other historical games, I seem to have got off easy. Only 1-2 loss penalty.

Yes this is a unit of AG DON entering the boundary "*"....and your are free to use DON front outside the boundary...
Dagger is keeping pressing hard towards the pocket. I made a few counterattacks to bring my gap up to 3 hexes, but he will probably connect up in 1 or 2 turns. I'm bringing down a 16th Tank Corps on the east side to reinforce. I've pounded the pocket some with my artillery, and made advances on 3 hexes in the North and West.
Up north by the Italians, the front is starting to break down on a couple of places, but I haven't caught any major forces yet.
Loss is 3-4 in his favor.

Looked over your .SAL this morning (I really LOVE   days off!)....
While it's very early in your game, and too early to tell how successful your opponent is going to be pressing towards the kessel, I do like that you've already placed multiple lines between LVII PzK and the pocket. They may not hold, but if he has to grind through them slowly, so much the better for you!
Be ready to kick it into high gear up and down the line on turn 4- almost everything you have on the map will be active, so you should be able to make some outstanding progress before his reserves arrive in the guise of 19th PzD and 1st PzA.
Good luck!

Dagger was only one hex from getting in contact with 6th Army. Counterattacks brought that up to two, but I suspect him reaching them in this turn. His forces south in the pocket seems pretty worn down from trying to break out, but his relieve force is still strong. He also made attacks further west at Bolshin (65,29) and south (south of Kargata (76,38)).
At Bolshin (65,29) he attacked and reached Ostrov. I was able to cut this advance and surround some PzJg unit in Ostrov. There still seems to be rather large forces at Bolshin. I made attacks west of his advance to relieve the pressure.
At Kargata he drove a fresh PzG Reg through my line, but he hadn't dug it in, so I could surround it and kill it.
On the North side of the Kessel I managed to drive a wedge into his positions, and a few of his regiments evaporated. It's going ok there.
28th Army is having unexpected difficulties getting anywhere with the the Rumanians down south and didn't cause a single retreat.
Against the Italians the advance is going reasonable, though I could have used an extra attack round (only got two). I had a possibility to cut him off at 3-4 places, but attacks were not going completely as planned. Still I've brought him out of his fortified positions along most of the line.
Since I didn't get the third round as I had planned alot of my units are not dug in. I hope it won't cost me too much.
Loss 6-7 in his favor

look nice
Here is turn 5 before I've moved any units.
I had a bad feeling after last turn, both that he would get contact with 6th Army, and that I forgot to activate the Little Saturn TO. I was right in both. I've mailed him to hear if it's ok I select it this turn instead.

you must to avoid the overstacked units, because if he attacks you īll have a lot of losses. i think that you forgot to move the 1th mech. corps in serafimovich.
atack in the north now with the little saturn and your position will be better. i think that you must atack with 28 th army too, and try to save the units that will be sorrunded near de south of kessel.
And like laszo would said, all of units in defense in ignore losses

The kessel is the most important now. Try to seal the kessel again, through everything you have to be succesful. Otherwise you survived the initial attacks so the initiative is yours now, plan your attack and attack in confidence.
