you had better to think about reaching the pocket first ;)
turn 1 : We agreed to play it the historical way
I advanced very far,i dropped my paratroopers on the three bridges and after 3 combat phases (70 % left) i made contact with the three bridge troopers
im over the first small river,i think i will make contact with the 6th armee in 4 turns (turn 6)
I planned a very large second attack in the centre to make the first attack (in the south) a bit faster,I hope polynike will send reinforcements towards the (huge) gap in the south(i have an opening of 7 hexes on turn 1) so i can encircle him with my second attack
i killed 413 planes 24 losses
im also preparing my defence in the north : i have send a complete division and stuff to the north,
my predictions : Polynike will be very passive, he will try to break through in the north but thats about it,
turn 2
edit file keeps on uploading
edit can someone do it for me, i can send picture ,you post it and i delete this post
you can send me your jpeg file, I can upload it
turn 3 :
My advance is a bit slower now,my enemy threw everything he had in the front,
I encircled with my northern attack all this units (i think i got 3/4 of his southern army) and i destroyed it (only one unit still stands)
Im a bit worried with my supply,im not sure i can keep up this pace for long (i predict 2 turns)
so i will have to fast,i hope i killed his complete southern army ( i killed +- 12 units completely) so i can play faster
until now my plan works, i killed 90 planes this turn 20 deaths
turn 4 :
6 hexes from stalingrad,in two turns ill use operation thunderclap

Any particular tactics in the air war? Just wondered as this seems the highest tally of Soviet Air on T2 so far- c200 seems the norm. Any info appreciated.
I think he had all his Air on AS, and ran his 3 rail gun units around until they got interdicted :)

I think he had all his Air on AS, and ran his 3 rail gun units around until they got interdicted :)Thanks. I've tried this hotseat with all air save JU88s and HE111s on AS and running armoured trains around, then attacking airfield with JU88s/HE111s and all else on AS again. Plus checking all is on AS each round. And all this for 9 rounds. I still remain at a 20-200 ratio.
Doesn't explain the 400 here unless it's just luck which I'd find unlikely...
I sort of doubt triggering interdiction would get you 400 listed kills too.. the Soviet bombers and fighter-bombers would go into reorg and stop flying long before that happens.
I don't remember how many I downed, but I nailed a lot by just deploying my armies with all fighters on AS and before my first combat phase his air force was basically grounded (presumably in reorg or knocked out of their assigned roles at any case). So I launched airfield attacks (picked one with fighters on it and hammered it all turn, every combat phase) and evaporated the pair of air units based there before turns end. I've been doing this pretty much constantly and I have a fairly large edge in the air, but the Axis don't get any significant air replacements so I'm thinking of toning it down now. At this point, all surviving Soviet air units are so damaged that the law of diminishing returns is kicking in.
Going to go heavy on the CAS missions until his air units start reconstituting and start the process over.
doubting the doubt would be more serious in your case ...
anyway,
turn 5 was pretty ****ed
i lost initiative,
maybe ill attack in the north ...for fun
ouch, did he launch Little Saturn? When I hotseat it, that is about the only time I lost the initiative.
my supply is so low, i have to wait one turn, reorganisation etc etc, although i was already near stalingrad,i ll need three more turns :(
Make sure and repair all bridges and rails leading to your forces, if you haven't already. I kept the 15th LFD engineer behind, he has 70% engineering capability.
i dont have the time any longer,my 6 year old brother will continue the game,
bye
