I'm sure that this will have been covered in an earlier thread, but how do you make those extra distance hexes work? I've set the things by right clicking in the Map Editor, it asks me to input the extra distance, then displays it as you'd expect but...units just waltz through at the usual speed for the underlying terrain. Am I missing something, or does anyone know where this has been covered before? Thanks.

"Where are the officers and the double-pay men? Let them come to the front!" The cry from the Swiss pike columns, trapped in a sunken ditch under murderous arquebus fire, Battle of Bicocca, 1522.

Mark,

Essentially, they only affect ranged assets, and supply calculations. They have no effect on movement rates through the hex. They add the distance assigned to them for fires out of the hex and into the hex, in cases of artillery. They likewise add the distances for range calculations for air units that fly out of, or into, those hexes.

Thanks. I guess that isn't going to affect Red Cloud's warriors moving from Nebraska to Dakota then.

Is there a way of turning the 'Possession' option off permanently in a scenario? I know that you can save a scenario with it off, but is there any way of preventing either side sneakily turning it on during their turn?

Nope.
