 I am getting my a $ $ kicked royally by mr. rebelbug! I've been playtesting AI scenarios so long I forgot how to play humans. Finished turn 6 and I only just reached the bridge, with rebelbug pummeling me the whole way!
DD, props to you for a really nicely designed scenario! Very tough little infantry battle.
Thanks again for the tournament!.

Well that makes me feel bad. I took it on the chin and the computer counted me out on turn 11. I spent most of my turns trying to rally my troops. I would guess that on least half my turns every one of my units were pinned or routed. Like I told my opponent, this was like whack-a-mole. I stuck my head above ground and got supressed silly. I'm still trying to figure out how the Poles could have lost to the Germans. I don't think those little mortars missed once during the whole fight. :dead:

Due to the map and little number of units involved this will be a very short and bloody battle for at least one side, maybe both. Once your opponent has you against the wall or you him, things with escalate sharply. There will be almost no chance to recover and it will become a "take as many enemy with you as you can" situation.

For the Czechs, you need to kill as many Poles as you can before they cross the bridge. Once the Poles manage to get forces across the bridge, its lights out for the Czechs. :dead:

Well Steeler, it's not over yet, still several turns to go. Those darn grenade launchers are a pain in the rear (side and front also). :D

Errrrr, Guys.............

Far be it from me to be a party pooper, and want to stop people posting, but me and my opponent are only on turn 6, and I don't think he has figured out the size of my defending force yet.

Please stop giving him ideas and encouragement - I appreciate it was inadvertant!

Yo DoubleDeuce,
Just curious if you would post the scenario after everyone is done. I would like a chance to try a role-reversal with one of the current defenders in case anyone is up for it. I think it would be a neat challenge to flip roles because sometimes I think you can learn from how someone else dealt same deck of cards would handle where you goofed up--and also that "the grass is greener" argument makes you wonder how you would do if really put in the opposite situation. Granted, element of surprise is blown to some degree by knowing exactly what other guy has, but still fun to give it a whirl.

Thanks!

Best wishes,
STEELER :crosseye:

Yo Psst...Viking2...
Hogg is down to 2 men and a single pistol left so charge like the light brigade!!! :p
Seriously, Hogg, the comments I've seen have been pretty general and provided mixed reactions from defenders and attackers. Only DD came close to giving anything away with the post about crossing the bridge. But as YOU said earlier, "DD is devious" :devious: ...last time someone told me something was gonna be easy after I did one simple thing, well, let's just say my hand is always on my wallet!!!
Oh, and we are only up to turn 7. Can't wait to get home tonight and finish my turn...Mr. Rebelbug and I are on opposite workshifts.
Either way, win or lose, this has been really fun!

Yo DoubleDeuce,

I will be posting all the scenarios once each is finished so others can play them. I will post the *.scn files so they can be looked at more closely in the Editor. Since these are designed as PvsP and not aginst the AI they may not be suitable for playing solitaire.

You got 2 men as the defender? 100% more than I did! :cheeky:

As I said, not a complaint - just a gentle reminder!

:cheeky:

Good luck to all!

 Yo DoubleDeuce,
Are you going to give scores as you receive them or just post at the end of the round?
Just curious how the tournament is going! I mean this is like the NCAA(which St. Joe's where I attended for two years, will win!--GO HAWKS!)

I had planned to wait until we get closer to the deadline so as not to discourage anyone or inadvertantly influence someone into changing their game plan based on how they "think" they are doing.

Yo Double Deuce,
I know of two games done including mine...do you expect to have rest before Friday? Just curious...and a bit anxious!

Don't be discouraged Tom. This tourney is not about winning the game but about gaining points to advance. We had a bloody little battle with me killing 2x the number of men that you killed. Pretty good results for me being undercover in stone houses and you having to advance down a narrow bridge.
As someone else said it was like the "whack a mole" game :) Everytime I stuck my head up Whack!. Half my troops were supressed at any one time and one (MMG) actually retreated from the map. Cowards!

I know how I'd do it different if I played Defense again but I'll save that until the round is over.

PS how many turns did our game last? I lost count. :D

I have three wins, no losses, one draw, and you are still in front of me on the ladder!

Clearly, being the spwaw section leader over here has its advantage! :OHNO: :o :hush: ;)

Yo All,
I haven't played a ladder in quite some time...past four years I've had such erratic work/school/family schedules that I've just had time to play test scenarios(like MCSE and before that Desert Fox) and couldn't really commit to a regular pbem.
Now this tournament has been really exciting so far...I'm joining the ladder when it is over!
:cheeky: You guys will have someone new to beat up on! :surprise:
Ok, so if 5 games of 8 are returned we are waiting on three....in the meantime Rebelbug and I switched sides and are playing another round...must say this scenario is very well thought out. Much more even and much tougher for both sides than I originally thought--I'd like to say more but I am respecting Hogg's wishes.
Thanks to all.

No, I just have the ability to take down hordes of the enemy before I get finished off :o .

Fortunately for me, sacrificing my men to further my own ends means points :devious:

Hi, mate!

Glad to see you have been converted to the coolest up and coming spwaw site!

Do join the ladder - recording the results of your pbem games add's a certain 'je'ne sais qua' to the experience!

Someone else had a good idea - do you fancy a quick scrimmage - re-play that scenario, but from opposite sides - just for the laugh?
