Decided to play this scenerio last night. I didn't finish but here are some things I saw:

1. This scenerio worked better than scenerio 2 for me.
2. FOW and LOS. A lot more combat but one gripe. I could see that a lot of enemy units firing at me but no icons would show up. I played about 15 turns and had to call it a night. I had looked under preferences and fog of war settings and noticed that the scenerio defaulted to level 3. For what I was seeing on the map the indications or lack of were maybe right by design. I do think that some type of indication should be left on the map showing where the last reported position my forces took fire from. LOS seems to not work right. Using the point to point I was getting 100% blocked all the time even when the other LOS tool would say it was open or only partially blocked. Due to time I was palying at Zoom 2 and did not go to Zoom 3 except for a couple of times. I will also have to look more closely at the Intel staff screen. Maybe if I select units in red here it will show a place on the map. But I am pretty sure it would highlight the unit where it was shown at the beggining of the scenerio. Which brings up this observation:

10 turns into the scenerio and the information for the unit by moving the mouse over the units original position says "current". I would think this should have changed to something reflecting that it is a old contact.

In the turns I played I never got an indication on the map of an enemy unit. I did see at least one instance of close combat in the combat window.

3. Loading and unloading. Looks like most the forces are loaded when the scenerio starts. Any suggestion or tips on this will be appreciated. I figured out how to unload them, and I did this because when I tried to move them at the start (I gave the order to the group right under the HQ, I am at work so I do not remember the name) and it told me they had to be unloaded before they could move. I would then go to unit details and movement and uncheck the box, getting a pop up telling me orders would be issued. 2 gripes:

1. The check mark should not reappear
2. The movement window should indicate the orders were given

4. CAS. The staff officer screen in the lower right said I had to available 2 units. But they do not show up above in the staff officers window to assign them orders. They do also show up on the off map display and in the forces tree. Right clicking on the map and selecting air strike did not help either. Also in the staff window clicking on the button for the AI to assign mission did nothing. I get no indication at all the game acknowledged that I hit the button.

I will have to try this scenerio at a lower FOW setting and probably a lower realistic setting. It defaulted to level 3 on both and I did not have a lot of time to play so I just took them. I do have to admit that I saw a lot more combat, but the no indication of enemy units is frustrating. It is hard to keep track of it in your head and then try to adjust forces accordinally. Though we do have a map notes tool. Maybe this could be used, I will have to look into that. What have been other people experiences. Have you had the same experiences or am I doing something wrong? I am using Build 6 right now.

Well after some more testing, and lack of any discussion here I am shelving this game. Maybe after 3 or 4 patches it will be worth coming back to.

If the game is frustrating you, take a day or two off from it and then come back. That's what I do whenever I get fed up with something.

I bet Scott reads these threads even if he doesn`t reply and your posts are useful in ID`ing issues in the scenario. :cheeky:

Well after some more testing, and lack of any discussion here I am shelving this game. Maybe after 3 or 4 patches it will be worth coming back to.

I too wanted to ask you to continue your reports. I refuse to beta test this game (any further), so I'm not touching the beta patches or even playing the original. But I do read the forum daily and appreciate reading the results of others that are using the beta patches.

So I don't have any discussion to add to your posts, but I do read and appreciate them!
