I recently downloaded the game and have been enjoying trying to figure it out. I'm really quite impressed w/ the detail and strategy options. Anyways, can someone please tell me how to make an amphibious landing? I don't know if its a bug or my ignorance but I can't figure out how to get the LSTs to land. Nothing happens (I'm playing a campaign.) Appreciate any help.

When the landing craft is adjacent to a beach hex, simply click the beach hex you want the soldiers to diembark on.

To get more beach landings in a campaign, play the USMC.

I just downloaded SPWAW 8.01 a few weeks ago, and I love it, a great game, takes me all the way back to Panzer Leader and Panzer Blitz all those years ago.

I would love to try my hand at scenario and map editing, but (and I may be missing something obvious - wouldn't be the first time) I can't find the SPWAW map editor (user friendly or not). Yes I did open all the exe's that came with the download (from Gamershell). I am thinking that one needs an older version of SPWAW.

Oh, and while I am at it, what are the differences between SPWAW and SPWW2, etc? Are the scenarios, maps, transferable? Please advise!!!

SPWaW and SP Cammos creations are entirely unique and have no cross over potential I know of.

SPWaW grew out of the Steel Panthers 3 Brigade Combat software, which was more akin to Panzerblitz scale of action.
It's a software thing.

SPWW2 and SPMBT are essentially using the same software which is unfortunately much more DOS oriented, and much less Windows oriented.

SPWW2 is a more exact derivative of Steel Panthers the original. It is also the vision of the SP Cammo group.

SPMBT is basically a rebuilt Steel Panthers 2 Modern Battles. It is also close looking to SPWW2 as a result.

I have run all versions of Steel Panthers from Windows XP, but you will find SPWaW requires no real special tricks to run, while SP Cammos efforts might require you spend a bit of time on their site reading their notes on the matter.

The short answer though, is one group wanted it one way, while the other group wanted it their way. And thus, there are two ways.

Both are recommended, so make sure to try them as well.

When you go into 'Solitaire' play, there is a series of buttons; Scenario, Campaign, etc. Click 'Editor' (not Campaign Editor). There will now be a screen allowing you to assign countries, dates, etc. There is a map section, where you may load, save, and edit maps. That is the map editor. If you have questions on design, they were probably already asked and answered. See http://www.spwaw.com/phpBB2/index.php

I know, I just asked most of them there, lol...

See, told you I was missing something obvious - not sure what I thought that button did... And somehow the SP:WAW member depot did not turn up in my google search for faq's, so thanks for the pointer to a great resource.
