It is probably me, but I have been unable to get into the matrix games site (main site or forums) for the last two days.

Anyone having similar probs??

:dead: :surprise:

Its not just you. Everyone at The SPWaW Depot cannot connect either. They are down, evidently.

Matrix Games, Wargamer, Battlefront I am sure there are others.

Look for the guy who made the virus wearing the sign that reads "target".

I doubt they are all just conveniently doing "maintenance".

God some people make me laugh.

Was just over at Battlefront, and it's not like their forums have been up 100% the last few days, but there is a thread there in General Discussions, and some of those insular the world revolves around CM wing nuts actually are conjecturing that Matrix Games might have lost their domain name or gone belly up merely because their forums are currently unavailable.

Sheeesh those guys really DON'T know there is a world apart from their precious CM some days :)

Makes me laugh.

I mean sure I am having forum withdrawal with half my haunts not available.

But really, those guys should come up for air and speculate on who released the virus that is causing all the trouble.
Makes you wonder if they even know about it eh.

Matrixgames' site was hacked, big-time. They are sifting through the wreckage to rebuild it. That's all that I'm at liberty to say, and even that will probably get me into trouble.

Seems a recurring problem, I wonder if it has any connection to the incident a good while back to Wargamer.

Either way, considering Matrix Games does so much for wargaming, it isn't likely the action of a wargamer.

Frankly, if I found the person, I would just eliminate them, and dump the remains where the autorities could find them.

Maybe one of the AoW guys that got banned.

Any chance any of those over inflated egos actually would know how?

How to do something stupid, mean, and malicious? Sounds just like most of them... ;)

Yes a common theme for the Art of War and Wargamer's NAMB crowd, is "oh we are just having fun", and really "in person we are actually nice guys".

And the ever popular, "we would be there if you needed us".

But there are two types that post there, those that post there on occasion, and those that never post anywhere else.

The type that never posts anywhere else, odds are I would not want to know them in real life in person. Probably jerks in person too :)

Thankfully, I run out of examples of jerks I have met, before I run out of fingers to count them on.

Often wish they would go and support their own forums where they can muck rake to their hearts content, and not pester wargamers eh.

I would bet money it had something to do with the latest virus' going round, even if indirectly. But then aren't Matrix and Wargamer sort of linked anyway. I mean they do seem pretty tight to me and being fairly well known they make a larger target than the smaller sites supporting us wargamers.

Might not be common knowledge, but David Heath aka Matrix Games, owns Military Gamer Online MGO as well as Wargamer.

I think the two forums are also using the same software.

It appears they have been hacked as can be seen by the index page display at Wargamer.com Hack Page (http://www.wargamer.com/index.htm) It basically says the page is not secuure and is owned by "Black Ice" Not good.

Generalizations are never easy to be accurate Abradley :)

But I think it is safe to say, Matrix Games and Wargamer would do just fine, if Art of Wargaming and NAMB were treated to a dose of what Don did for his site eh.

He decided he didn't need offensive posting twerps.

If tomorrow Art of Wargaming and NAMB were deleted, those posting there would have a choice, post in General Discussions and keep it civil, or do a variation on what I have done. I have my own forum where I can ramble as I see fit with my buddies.

As I see it, NAMB being the worst example, is nothing much more than a specific crowd (a handful of specific indivuduals) unwilling for the most part, to accept there is no MGO any more. They all know each other from way back mostly, and they really could care less about Wargamer and Art of Wargaming beyond the fact they both offer a free location to post at.

There is a bit of cross over from both sites.

They (the people I am referring to, and not defacto the whole audience of both forums) really never offer anything that could be construed as offering anything back to their host for the most part.

And naturally, if any of those cretins were to see this, ooooooh of course the slagging would begin. They already all know how little love I have for them though.

I am of course hoping this hack has nothing to do with those nuts, as obnoxious as they can be, I would be surprised they would have any connection.

Somewhere along the way, someone either has an axe to grind, or merely found a hole in the defenses and decided to be the worthless waste of skin they truely are.

As of this second this moment Matrix Games and Wargamer sans forums are up and looking like they will make it.

As always, the forums are not as important as the rest. I can deal with that :)

I don't know Les there are an awful lot of unhappy campers on the Wargamer forums...maybe one of them?

Aries

Hmmm , well "unhappy camper" isn't the term I would use for the few well established "azzholes" that post in a specific location to the exclusion of any other form of contribution.

But I have met more than a few of that sort of person in my life, I still doubt they would indulge in that sort of action.

I think the perp was likely just a social misfit that couldn't identify the function of a human female without video :)

The reason that I asked Les is that most regular hackers like to go after the big fish, Microsoft or some other high profile company, Matrix seems like it wouldn't even be on their radar screens. That's why I suggested one of the banned members of either forum, I can think of one or two individuals who might be able to pull it off.

Aries

Yes not an impossible comment I guess.

Matrix Games is a big fish to us wargmers, but in the bigger picture, we are actually a fairly small mob.

And yes, I know of some of the banned, and some of the wish they were banned.
Pretty mouthy sort, and fairly rude offensive and downright not beer drinking buddy grade material (in spite of how some seem to think they must surely be).
