Scott,

I got the patch working correctly and was on turn 12 of the tutorial scenario when I got this error:

“Access violation at address 004C9B3D in module ‘POA2.exe’. Write of address 0013F3A1.”

I tried to save the game and got a C++ error, however, it looks like it did save. I sent you the save game file. I’ll have more feedback soon.

Hi Don,

Thanks for the file... but I can’t get it to break. I start running it and everything seems fine. I gave units orders, brought up the staff officer forms, and ran through a couple of turns. So this must have been from something that happened in the previous combat phase and that got corrected when the file was saved/loaded.

We’ll get whatever this is, but it may take some time for it to show up here.

Thanks again!

-Scott

I'll keep my eyes open and see if it happens again. Maybe it was a fluke.

Now I tried the same message in the tutorialgame in turn 9, just after I tried to redirect one of my teams movements. And I have installed the beta-patch. Maybe it can help tracking the error.

Now I'm almost sure, what causes problems in the tutorialgame. This time I waited and made no changes at all. In turn 14 I erased all movement orders and gave the unit a new movement order. That seemed to be ok. Then I tried with a seond unit in turn 15 and then in turn 16 pulse 3 it broke down with the error message Don wrote. That happened again and again!!!

Conclusion: don't make several movementchanges in a row???

Which version of the game are you using? Do you have any of the patches?

I am using the gameversion 1.00 and the betapatch 2.01 (the only patch I know of)

Does it say build 4 or 5 when you check the version?

It says build 004 (beta)

That's the first patch. I'm now using build 5, which has a lot more fixes in it. I believe HPS is going to make the patch official this week. I don't know if it will fix tis particular error or not, but Scott did patch the patch again based on a savegame file I sent him a few days ago. I was getting a similar crash.

Don,

Can you share build 5, like what was done with Build 4?

If not, can you say whether the helicopter emplacement problem and carrier load/unload problem has been fixed?

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not sure whether it's okay to share it or not. I believe the plan is to release it tomorrow, but that's me speaking not HPS.

As far as I can tell the loading/unloading problems seem to be fixed. I still get a little confused by the process because it doesn't seem to be as intuitive as it could be, but it does appear to be working.

Scott mentioned that the problems with the helicopters are also fixed, but I have not tested it yet.

If the patch is that close to being finalized, I can certainly wait a couple more days without going...

I'm glad to hear the carier bug has been squashed and hope the same is true for helicopter emplacement.

Thanks for keeping everyone in the loop.

Thanks,
Mike
