Are there any negative consequences for killing the civilian units in the game? Do you lose points for this or what? Do they affect gameplay in any other way?

The game also uses a system of generic markers, quite similar to ATF. I noticed this because I have FOW set to it's highest setting
Okay, I guess I need to start playing on the higher settings since I have the basic concepts of the game down. It's still not clear to me how each of the settings differs from the others. I'll experiment some more and see how different the sim feels from one setting to the next.
The killing of civilians causes a significant loss in VP’s. Otherwise, civilian units essentially affect game play like any other unit of the same type. Although, since they don’t fire, the principal effects are blocking traffic and causing uncertainty.
