Scott and I have been discussing the possibility of adding some additional weapons systems to the game right away. As you already are aware, there are plans to do some WWII varients as well as add additional modern weapons if there is sufficient demand. Having said that, I think a lot of Canadians, Brits, and Euro gamers would be pleased to see weapons specific to their countries added.

It may take a while to get this stuff added due to the large amount of work it takes to get reliable reference material and plug it all in to the database. I did get this from Scott though, and it may be of interest to some of you.

I’m also going to add maybe a couple of dozen weapons from some different nationalities to the databases. To be honest, I guess I was so focused on how cool POA-2 was and the US military side of things I never even thought about all the customers in other countries. It won’t be an exhaustive list, but at least some of the more common things will be there. I agree with gamers 100% on this point - these weapons SHOULD have been in there in the first place, and their absence diminishes the package as a whole. He wasn't specific on what would be added, but it's still good news.

In any case, I’ll reiterate my overriding philosophy to you, in that I am a gamer first, and a developer/publisher/designer second. I make games that I play myself, and I will give gamers a fair product at a fair price. Granted, I get to decide initially what those levels are based on my personal values, but then it’s up to folks to either agree and buy it or not. When I make mistakes (and I ALWAYS do), I do what I feel is fair to make it right, again based on what I would expect as a gamer.
I have to take this opportunity to say that I think some of the heat that HPS is taking over POA-2 is a little over the top. Scott has admitted that there some oversights when the system was released, but he has been very helpful answering questions, fixing bugs, and listening to our concerns. Still, there has been some pretty viscious stuff said that seemed out of place.

I believe I know where some of this bad blood comes from. There are a lot of gamers out there who are still unhappy about the Panzer Campaigns "business model." They would very much like to see new material for the series come in the form of an add-on disk, rather than a stand alone game. We've talked about this many times and I know there are a lot of gamers who feel very strongly about it. I think POA-2 is getting some of the overflow from that debate simply because POA-2 comes from the same developer (HPS).

I'm not trying to start that old debate again here, I'm simply saying let's judge POA-2 based on its own merits rather than any prior titles from HPS.

When you look at HPS games, and then look at Scott's games section, Top 2 and PITS had numerous free downloadable scenarios and many add on disks for 15-25 dollars. In my book that is not bad. I will say I wish they would bundle Top2 and Pits and sell the 2 for $50 and keep the add-ons priced the same...Does HPS have sales? I would buy that package. I do not mind paying for add ons as long as they offer something of interest. Hopefully this will be an indicator for POA-2. ;)
