This is an excellent site with dozens of electronic documents, many available in pdf format. It covers many aspects of combined arms warfare (what we do in ATF). Some of the documents are large. (The heaviest I've dl'ed thus far weighed almost 30mb, but well worth it.

I spend a few hours in the actual building each week - it's an awesome resource, not just for military subjects, but for geopolitical and even children's resources. Actually, it is probably 2nd or 3rd in the list of best libraries in the US. I encourage anyone who is in the area of Fort Leavenworth to make it a point to visit the library and the post in general - it's an awesome area, and the history here is astounding! Let me know ahead of time, and I can try and escort you around a bit, maybe even give you an idea of how we use simulations here at the college!:D

HI Curt,

How about maps? Is there maps there at the library that can be scan or copy to a CD?

Also, could you send me the DA scenario for the Sinai :D

Thanks,
John

Yes, there are all kinds of maps on file there - unfortunately, many are still "classified", but many are not.

I'm out of the office this week, but I'll try and get that to you next week.

Nice offer. However, I would have to be escorted out of the library. (Never want to leave.) :D

You're probably right, Delta - They even have quite a few of the older board games from Avalon Hill and such. There are whole unit histories there.

Ever heard of George Nifziger, of the "Nifziger Collections" of Orders of Battles? Where do you think he gets much of his info? He's here now in the same training I'm in, and we've had some fascinating discussions.

He found a manuscript detailing the use of 155 arty guns on Japanese cave blast doors in WWII. The CARL is FILLED with obscure stuff like that!!

I guess I will have to take a trip there. I live in Colorado, so the distance and time will be no factor. It will give me a chance to meet Jim Lunsford and TJ :D

Does the copy machine at the library take dimes or quarters to make copys :cheeky:

I believe it's free if you bring your own paper. You can also scan stuff and take it away in digitsd - but you need a Fort Leavenworth account for that. We'll get you hooked-up on way or another!

All this time, I was thinking all the wargame celebrities resided at the Pentagon. So everyone hangs out at Fort Leavenworth. Well everyone accept CPT. Proctor. I guess he is in self-imposed exile at Fort Irwin. :D
