View Full Version : Any Info on POA2?
Seems HPS Sims has released Point of Attack 2. The modern conflict successor to Tigers on the Prowl. It looks interesting but I would hate to buy it, and have it quietly fade into obscurity the way Decisive Action did.
Anyone know anything about this?

DA died a slow death because there was no activity on the part of the developer.
POA2 slipped right past me. I usually hear about any new wargame coming out, but this was a surprise to me. I own just about evey other wargame on the market so I better order this one too.
Thanks for the heads up!
If you get it. I would like to here about it!

Okay, it arrived last night. Installation was very straight forward and you don't need to keep the CD in the drive to play. It appears that the CD is only needed for installation.
Here are some very kneejerk impressions based on playing around with a scenario for about half an hour. First, this sim reminds me of Decisive Action, only far more detailed. Maps are similar to those found in DA, but you can zoom in and see what's going on at close range. The interface is a standard HPS Windows-type interface that only has a few buttons on it. Looks can be decieving though. In POA2 you assume the role of a Battalion or Brigade commander and the battlefield is viewed from that perspective.
You get most of your information from several small pop-up windows that provide intel on enemy and friendly units, terrain, environment, etc. You can get much more detailed info by going into the "Staff Officers" area which is broken down into S1, S2, S3, S4, Targeting, Engineering, Air Support, Communications, and Artillery.
Giving orders seems pretty simple (so far) and you can do so by right clicking and selecting the option you want. The computer has a lot of options to automate certain features for you.
This is a very preliminary impression, but I like what I see so far.
