I'm wondering if there are any online resources that provide topographic maps/photos of specific towns and cities in Russia and eastern Europe, circa the 1940's?

In particular, I am searching for the town of Kapitanovka in the Ukraine. In the very least, I would like to know how big it was, was it a town, farming community, etc,.. any descriptive info at all for it during the 1940's.

Thankyou

It's very tough to get topograhpic maps like that. David Glantz released some reference maps from the Eastern Front that can be picked up at a handful of specialty bookstores. I have some from Kursk, but others might be available.

The Library of Congress also has a ton of maps from all periods, but I'm not sure how you go about getting them. I know that scenario designers for the various wargame companies occasionally go there to copy maps. I'm not sure if you can get things over the internet or not.
