View Full Version : Moving Maps?
Hi,
Is there anyway to move a "Battle" map into an Operation?
I designed a huge map for a battle scenario but now realize it will play much better as an Operation.

I assume by now, you have realized you cannot do this? It's really something that is lacking in the editor. By rights it should be there.
So how is operation design coming along for you? My work is at a stand still now. However, the map is very close to completion. 5040 X 2320, all from scratch.
I have a listing of all the units I plan to use, along with briefings. What is left is editing said units and making the thing playable, probably the hardest part yet.
Historical accuracy sure does cramp balance, lol.
My battle designs are moving along nicely thanks to some dedicated play-testers!
I have 4 currently in various stages of play-test or post-test scrutiny. With 3 more in various stages of design.
Right now I'm trying to locate & determine if map landmarks should be in the locations native language. If I go that way I'll have to provide a "translation" key in the briefing.
How much "flavor" do you think that would add to a game? I normally only check landmarks if there is a "need" to do so in the briefing.
I have delayed my operation scenario until I complete the battle ones I already had underway, but soon.
Exact historical accuracy I believe is only needed if you decide to design a historical encounter. That said there are unlimited "what if'" scenarios that can be designed around a historical action, taking snap shots around a larger picture.

With Mapping Mission (no support for CMAK yet) one could convert FE old CMBO maps to CMBB by using screenshots. I'd guess it would work for Operation maps also, although I have not tested it.
