Obviously it is way too soon for this to make a "hill 'o beans" of difference, but here are some early statistics on who's winning the handheld market...even though the DS isn't competing with the PSP :p

It's not surpising, the DS is cheaper and has more kiddie-apeal than the PSP (the high price tag, the sleek design and the movie capabilities make the PSP more desirable for adult gamers and gadget freaks with disposable incomes, whereas the DS is cheap comparitivley and has games that kids love like Mario)
$250 is a lot to pay for a portable. I think the cheap approach was smart by Nintendo. Most DS owners only have one game or so though. All the people I know that have one have Super Mario DS or Warioware and no others.
I bought Ridge racer DS of a US import site

???ridge racer is on ds?
is it the same as the psp game (obviously not in graphics).
I agree that sony have messed up with their release date but their price is okay considering what its capable of.

rigde racers DS:
(Touch screen is utilized throughout the entire race. You use the stylus to steer)that seems lika bit of a flaw.
thanks for the site, the games arent the cheapest there though.
Ridge Racers DS is like cheap scrap metal compared to the PSP version.

lol, you buy from Totalfuns aswell? I go on ebay and try and get a cheap game from their dutch auctions. I got Lumines for £22.50 that way. They used to sell five games at a time in dutch auctions but now it's down to two, so the bidding ends up quite high. :(
I've heard Ridge Racer DS isn't that bad. But steering using the touch screen would seem a little odd at first.
I kinda like the DS, but imo there's not much going for it in the way of games. Rayman DS? I think the original Rayman would've been so much better; it's lighter and more attractive compared to what we have now. If Nintendo bring out some better games for DS (Lost in Blue looks interesting, btw) then they won't really need to worry about whether they're competing with the PSP or not. If they continue with average games and ports, then they'll be glad they've claimed that they're not competing with the PSP, because once the UK PSP is released, and Sony have finished releasing the PSP in other countries; they wouldn't be able to compete.
