I heard the single player is pretty good, although I have only been playing the multi-player.
Overall, in multiplayer I am fairly disappointed. In most of the variants you are basically on your own and there is very little teamwork. One crucial variant called Capture the Flag was left out and I think that was a huge mistake. With CTF you have defense and offense and your team has to work together to win. As it is now, you are basically thrown into a big mosh pit and have to kill everyone.
The mechanics and gameplay are faster than Day of Defeat, but I don't think the maps are quite as good (at least the "main" maps).

The singleplayer is awesome, and I just finished it at the hardest level (Hit F-5 quicksave ALOT!).
As for multiplayer, I enjoy it, and there actually is quite a bit of teamwork going on. In the server I play on, we move as a team, sweeping through the map, and we usually win. Another thing which enhances ALL online games I play is being in a squad and using TeamSpeak. Easy to use tactics to achieve your goals no matter the game!
only problem is i finished singleplayer the day i bought it :( but multiplayer is fun [ i like the pavlos house map] but more servers should restrict snipers........walk past a window, and at once.. KABHAMMM screamer 0 sniper 1

I have played through part of the single player missions so far. It's pretty good. I have not tired the multiplayer yet.
CoD is, currently, the best WWII shooter available.
I've finished the single player game 3x now, twice at the hardest level.
I mutliplay just about everyday on the PJG server. PJG is a great server that usually draws an above average crowd. Snipers are limited to two per team...if you pick-up one off the ground, you can have more.
I do hope the upcoming patch addresses the bunny-hop, mg/smg uber-accuracy and allows you to cook grenades.
Give me a shout if you see me on PJG.
MoH Pacific add-on is out in Jan...I am curious as to how that one looks.
PjG heh, skyvon whats you nickname playing Cod, i might give you a shout, :dead:
Uh, it's SkyVon :p
I've had that handle/nickname for online gaming since 1991! Way back to Sierra's INN/TSN. In fact, my flying squad, the Blue Knights, started there and many are still flying and are still part of the squad making us one of, if not the, oldest online flightsim squad :)
1991, cool........
cant find the pjg server on the list.
ive flown in lets see, ......... ............ ....... 8 online squadrons since 1997. starting with red baron 2 ending with IL2:FB
CoD is nice if you want to play through the single player missions but if you are looking for the real thing in WW2 multiplayer gaming, grab a copy of Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory... it's a blast !
This game has a strong focus on team play, the lone ueber rambo might score high frags but his team will still loose if they don't focus on completing there Objectives. The maps are great, very well suited for multiplayer purposes and look stunning, the objectives are interesting (example: the map GoldRush: The Allies are attacking, trying to steal gold from a Bank protected by the Axis, to accomplish their mission they have to steal a Jagdpanther, drive the Jagdpanther through a middle east town ( the axis can construct tank barriers on the way to delay the allies) and use the tank to blow the door of the bank. Than the allies need to grab two gold crates from the bank and bring them to a waiting truck, once accomplished they have to repair the truck and escape with it (again the axis can construct barriers to delay the allies)
One of the reasons why this game neeeds teamplay are the different classes, you can play as a soldier (heavy weapon specialist, can select the mortar or panzerfaust or MG-42 or Flamethrower), a Covert Ops (spy, has silenced weapons, can select the sniper gun, can steal an enemy uniform to disguise himself, can use a stachel charge to destroy enemy constructions, has a smoke cannister), The Engineer (can build constructions (Bridges, MG-42 emplacements, command posts...), destroy them with dynamite and lay landmines), FieldOps (can provide ammo for his teammates, can call in air strikes and artillery strikes) and Medic (can heal teammates, can revive fallen comrades). Most maps require a healthy mix of all classes, good tactics and good teamwork to overcome the enemy.
And the best part:
It's 100% free !!
This game was first meant to be a commercial addon for Return to castle wolfenstein but the single player part never got finished and Activision decided instead of scrapping the entire project to just finish the almost done multiplayer part and release the game for free.
The game has just won the 2003 GameSpy PC Multiplayer Game of the Year award! That might tell you al little about it's qualities ;)
just download (http://www.splashdamage.com/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=7) the game and the latest 1.02 patch and enjoy :D

The clan I'm in has members that play various games such as:
- RTCW (Return to Castle Wolfenstein)
- RTCW:ET
- CoD
- BF1942
- AA
There's been a lot of buzz lately on CoD on our clan forums. Myself, I've only played the demos as I'm trying to concentrate on learning ASL.
We started out as an RTCW clan, and now have 60+ members. Many of the members are registered in one or more ladders, such as TWL, etc.
The clan, now called a guild is located at www.dpguild.net. Feel free to drop by.
Ah, to bad you are on the other side of the big lake, otherwise we could have done a little fun CW, I'm in a fun clan (just 4 members atm, we play together for fun but aren't playing in a league: CY-Clan (http://www.cyberyogies.de.vu) ) but across the ocean the lag is probably to bad :)
RtCW:ET is a fun game...especially considering its price. But when compared to MOH and COD, it's just an arcade type first person shooter.
In RtCW:ET you can take many hits before dying, the guns modeled are far from accurate (modeling-wise) and several other things keep this game in the arcade category.
Try this, play a few weeks straight of COD then go play ET; you'll be amazed at how much better you are. Now, instead of spray and pray tactics, you are actually aiming your gun and firing, and hitting, while dodging.
I still play RtCW:ET when the mood hits, but if I want a realistic game, I play some CoD or MoH.
BTW, CoD does have a CTF type game called RE (retrieval) where one side has to grab an item or two (radio or docs) then return it to a truck at its spawn. This is far more realistic than a true CTF...don't recall any CTF battles in WWII :P and CoD is trying to be as realistic as possible...still room for improvement though.
