also were and how do i put the mods in

i just copied them into the cm directory then loaded the patches for cmbb

Gentlemen, I certainly appreciate some of the concerns that people raise about the CM games requiring the CD to be inserted during play HOWEVER, distributing a hacked or cracked game exe is piracy, it is an infringement of our intellectual property, a violation of the copyright agreement that all legitimate owners of the game are bound by and illegal. I would strongly suggest the person above running the FTP server cease and desist from passing those files out any longer.

I am more than willing to assume this was a simple mistake and someone was just trying to provide some other people a favor, however, that favor in this instance is improper and perpituates software piracy by defeating the copy protection system in place with a commerical product.

As this time I would ask that the person hosting the No CD cracks on his FTP site stop doing so as well as distributing such files via email or any other medium.

The Combat Mission games have always used a very low key, unintrusive protection scheme but making it even easier for people to pirate the game (which deny it or not a no cd crack DOES do) will only result in us having to look at other methods of protection that will not be so low key.

I understand that you guys just want to play the game, and I am glad you all seem to enjoy doing so but we don't need to make this any easier for people that are not willing to lay down their money to buy the games and would prefer to steal them instead. I doubt you guys would want to help them because when you do you make it that much harder for us to continue to make high quality games.

Matt, I accept your assessment.

Ive closed the Ftp-Server because I do't like to discredit the club.
But let me say the most of us I think 99 % have bought an legal CD
from CMAK CMBB or CMBO, for myself I bought all from Battlefront only CMBB
I can't get it directly I need help from an friend in the States.
We all love this brillant game especially to change mods, sounds .........
as we like.
For the most of us it's onerously to change always the CD drive if we play
different CMs, there are 2 ways with an nocd not legal as you say and
with an virtual drive legal ? the result is the same.
We are't software pirates we are maniacs of this game we want it
in the orginal box and with the manual and with automatic notification as
an new patch is available. And sometimes we made an copy of the game
for safety.

i got given a demo of this game then went out and bought the last two released and all i can say is i am glad i did what a brilliant series of games

also yes i play a helluva lot of games and having to keep putting the cd's in is a bore

I think their biggest complaint was the fact that a Google search for the fix was bringing up these pages and a direct link to an ftp site or a game fix site. In another thread Matt acknowledged that we are not pirates. :D

Good point Andre on the virtual drive. I don't know of that being illegal and it accomplishes the same sime.

A virtual drive is what I use for CMBB and it works, I don't need to have the CD in it. I can't swear for sure it's legal though since I haven't checked, but I would expect it is since these virtual drives software are legal and I haven't seen a warning prohibiting their use for such cases.

In any case, a virtual drive is what I use for all my games.
