Hello Mark and All,

Just checking in to see what you have done with the place....:>)

I was looking at TOAW III and thinking of purchasing after several years of being away...this of course brought my mind back to the happy times of EA 1.1, 1.2, etc....

I have been catching up on some of the recent posts and wondering if EA was available for TOAW III?

I gather that after years of developing EA for CoW, Matrix must have thrown you (Mark) for a loop on TOAW III and that the latest version of EA you have posted on the sticky note is not working quite correctly on the revised TOAW game engine?

What does the future hold for EA and TOAW III?

I just have to say that even after years of being away (pursuing miniatures gaming and such) that I still look back on EA as one of the most enjoyable experiences of Wargaming for me...Duri and I played our game for over a year before we lost the files (and track of each other)...

Thanks,
Faron

Hello again. With a lot of help and advice from other players I got the CoW version to a fairly sophisticated level compared to four years ago. See the sticky for the grisly details.

When TOAW III came out, there were several complaints about major bugs in the version of EA supplied with the CD/download, to the extend of whole formations disappearing or not disappearing when they should, including the entire German Army around turn 80, even though I couldn't see these in the Event Editor. A trifle discouraging, as you can imagine.

I've been widdling with the TOAW III supplied version, but have now decided to do the EA conversion from CoW to TOAW III myself, from the ground up. Thing is, this obviously involves a lot of playtesting to try to cover every possible combination of Events and Theatre Options. Thought I had it a week or so ago, until someone pointed out that the Iranians hadn't made the journey, Briefing still said it was CoW 3.4 (c), Oh Lord help me.

Hoping to have a properly tested, TOAW III friendly version ready soon...:argh:

Faron!

Long time no see! :D

Yes, EA has evolved, to be sure. There are some great changes made since you were part of the regular crowd. Hidden USEV numbers, to remove bean-counting; delays on surrenders and other events, so you never really know if something is going to occur or not... (You can't know how many times I've taken Leningrad and sat there for turns watching the Swedes, waiting to see if they'll bite, lol)

The Germans have been weakened to some degree, and the Allies strengthened... Russian units show up faster, have 'proper' starting prof. %s, the US enters more realistically, and actually has the equipment to rebuild their original units, so they aren't paper tigers for a year and a half after seeing combat, etc.

I'd stick with CoW if I were you, but getting a game going would be the best way to see all the wonderful effort Mark has put in!

Again, welcome back!

Shane

Coincidently about the same time, that I was poking around here, I was contacted by Duri, my old partner in crime with the old EA 1.2...we are currently playing Operation Lion de Mer 2004 and are warming up for a game of EA...Hope you folks have a happy holiday season....faron.

Have you started yet? Which side are you, and how is it going?
