Does anyone know if 'Fire in the East' is going to be upgraded now that the editor in OPART III has greatly enlarged its number of events? Does the new editor allow more units or map sizes? I just tried to go to Snefen's website but it looks like it is down.

Try to post this at Matrix forum - Snefens is active there much more.

Last I knew that they were waiting for TOAW 3 to arrive to their address, I guess that they have it by now...

But, that is awful big work in front of them. Map etc... so please be patient.

Even if I say brrrrr if they enlarge map because even this is almost too much for me.

Actually, either board is fine for questions. I visit both equal ammount of time.

The 500 extra events will allow us to add alot of nice details to the scenario, but what we really had hoped for was a higher unit and map limit that are the real bottlenecks. These are still at their CoW-level in TOAW3.
More units might sound crazy in an already huge scenario, but for the end user it wouldn't really mean that he would have to control more units each turn. What it would allow us instead was to add alot of the units missing, which are compensated for in v5.0 by reconstitution of other units. For example the ammount of rifle brigades in the scenario is nowhere near what was really fielded.

But in the end, in order to do a new version we need to remake the entire map. That's a lot of work, and we haven't decided if all that work is worth for adding "just" 500 events and correcting what have so far been only minor bugs reported. (Not including the whole CoW->TOAW3 conversion issues, but that's not scenario specific)

Meanwhile I'm using my spare time on a solo-project. Still in very early stages and totally different from FitE.
So far not much done in the editor other than I've started on the map, but I've already done most of the leg-work in terms of research and ideas. But still, don't expect this anytime soon.
Map is at 2.5km/hex. Coast and rivers are almost done and so are roads and rail. Everything else is still missing.

PS: The homepage "down" is caused by major trouble server-side. Nothing to do with the state of FitE. Hopefully it'll be back up soon.

Thanks Snefens.

Map of Leningrad area looks good - is that scenario for 1941 or later (42?, 43?, 44?)

About the enlarging map of FiTE even with more unit's there would be lot's of gaps there, maybe good but maybe it would be too big, dunno what final result will be. Even now FiTE is monster :)

Where's the 'Za Rodiny' button? :o The one that scavanges every resource and unable body to the front in summer 1941 so salvage a desperate situation? :D (Mario you devil).

As general von Döbeln said: 'No, doctor, think of a recipe, sir, that will have me tomorrow sevenfold worse, but puts me on my legs today'.

Yes, I am doing quite good in this game :) but still maybe you can save Moscow... I will try to grab what I can...

You are doing better than my previous opponent...

It would be very cool if the new design team for OPART III was on the same page as Snefens and patched the game for more flexibility (ie.more units and map size). I would like to see and play the final version that Snefens and his team have in mind.
Also Snefens I was wondering if one could control when a formation 'reorganizes' in the game? If you can control this situation that could solve the supply problem in the game. Meaning that units can move (full range) and fight with 1% supply. I wonder if you could use an event to 'stop' units of formations when they drop to a very low supply level? Any other ideas?

Well, at least part of the team is. ;) But, like most groups of TOAW fans, it is not of one mind. The discussions behind the scenes are often just as vigourous as the ones you see on the public boards. All I can promise is that good things are coming - exactly what remains to be seen.
