Hello all... this is my first thread. Just bought RT and am totally digging the realism here. Already learned some tough lessons the hard way. But I'm stuck on a couple ones and P/P said to come here. Hope this is the correct forum.

1) Paladin resupply. When i try to upload ammo from my ammo carrier to my tubes, i click the upload icon and select the ammo carrier.i get the blue circle around it, and have made sure that the paladin is inside the circle. according to the directions, I am supposed to get a yellow X on the tubes taht I am able to resupply, but it never shows up. am i supposed to have anything special going on? they are not actively involved in missions when i am trying to do this.

2) Attacking armor formations. i think we have airforce guys driving the tanks. these guys can't get through forests to save their life, and when they finally get out of the forest, they turn around and go right back inside. Along those lines, if i plan an assault mission w/ a mech unit, they drop the infantry a full 3 gridsquares away and that isn't good for obvious reasons. I got decimated.

3) I just finished a defense mission where I had to hold the breach against a NK counter attack until 17:35 along w/ keeping X amount of friendly's alive and keep OBJ Noah free of enemy units. I did all 3, but it still says that my mission is incomplete?

can you some of you experts help out a newbie?

thanks!

Hey Gary -

you have got the right forum for these questions.

I just bought Raging Tiger myself so I can't give you specific answers to all your questions. I will say that whenever I'm driving tracks around forests in ATF environment (or otherwise), I'm very careful to plot movement paths myself. And I typically plot them around forests, not thru them (its nearly impossible to move tracks thru forests, unless the forest is very thin). In ATF, I always look at all movement paths (using the view option clickbox) before letting my units move - I often find some paths I manually adjust.

Another thing to keep in mind is that giving units missions requires the AI to solve all of the equations and attempt to plot a clear path to your objective UNLESS you plot the path yourself and select that option when planning the mission.

Also, the use of formations isn't recommended in restrictive terrain, because vehicles can "hang" on terrain in one area while trying to maintain formation. Then, when you try to give new movement nodes for a formation/hierarchy, all of the vehicles will attempt to get to that node!

What it comes down to is, when you are moving through restrictive terrain, make sure you select "none" for formation...I think you'll be pleased with the results.

What scenario has you unable to upload ammo to the Paladins? Also, you have to be sure that particular vehicle actually needs the ammo!

As for the scenario win conditions, I'll have to look at it to see if I don't have the victory conditions set incorrectly. If I can find the issue, I can fix it and post a fixed set of scenario files for you.

When planning a mission with dismounts, just select "move mounted" during mission setup and ensure the "Dismount on Contact" SOP is selected, if that's what you want.

I hope this helped.

ok. good info. i'll work through a couple simpler scenario's to check the mounted assault. i guess it comes down to planning out the movement myself, and not letting the AI do it.

Regarding the paladin resupply. its Day 1 Turn of Events. I'm out of copperheads, dpicm, and BBdpicm. plenty of HE and illum, but still the same problem.

i can email the save file to you if you want?

i am in unit view and have platoon and company turned off. i click upload, select source vehicle, and am unable to select destination tube. any help would be appreciated.

on a programming note, as a former FO, i'd love to be able to use some VT fuses against them. just a dream sheet.

Gary,

Here (http://www.xtreme-gamer.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=1290) is a link to the download area for RT stuff, more pointedly, an updated set of "Turn of Events" scenario files. I removed the "Friendly Numbers" from the loss conditions, so it SHOULD work for you now. If you have a saved game, you might be able to pull that up and get a "mission complete" notification immediately.

As for the Paladins and resupply, I tested the ones in this same scenario, and all worked fine. Try right-clicking on a Paladin that has fired all of its M107 HE rounds (or any other ammo that is visible - DPICM is another) and leave the info box up, then select the "upload ammo" button, select the FAASV behind the gun, then select the gun, and you SHOULD see the ammo replenish. If this isn't happening for you, let me know.

BTW, I wasn't an FO, I was a medic, but I got my Cav Spurs, so I know how to call that stuff in! Oh, and Naval Gunfire as well! ;)

Pat Proctor is the FA guy, as well as the programmer - I just put it all together with a little creative artwork and such and let it fly!

ok. i'll try that. i was fo attached to 1/1 cav 1st arm div. gulf war 1.

cav rocks! we took friendly fire from our own fa. dpicm. lots of hummer flat tires. only a couple wia though. kinda surprising we weren't devestated. thats when hummers were soft skin and had none of those fancy never flat tires.

one guy in the 577 vehicle, the 113 thats way too tall to be anything but a command vehicle, had the top hatch open and his kevlar got shredded by shrapnel. he thought he was dead. they had to wrestle his kevlar off. superficial scalp lacerations. he never took off his kevalar until we left the desert. its funny now to look back at it.
