Chuck - Have you noticed in other ACW games that the Confederate Gunboat stationed along the Mississippi can push Land Units, Forts and Union Gunboats back without attacking?

We are at turn 30 and my Confederate opponent is able to smack my Union boys around at will....have had it push my Gunboats back up against his river forts and eliminate them, then push well rested/supplied forts such as my Cairo Garrison completely out of the way......even pushed a brigade of militia out of the way at another river town/crossing.....

Probably just a TOAW shortcoming but I was wondering if other's had experienced wierd things happenning w/ gunboats?

My Union boats dont seem to have the same capability...?

Thanks and still enjoying the game......Union have taken Nashville in the West, static line north of Culpeper in the East and lots of Confederate Guerilla action behind the Union lines.....

Thanks for the feedback! I've been aware of this issue for some time. What I'll probably have to do in the end is make each boat an individual unit in the next version. Originally they were put together into groups for playability and playback reduction. However they appear to get the occasional automatic victory against forts in the scenario.

Not sure why Union boats don't have the same capability. They are stronger and better armed in fact. Confederate gunboats only have the 6-pounders while the Union gets several types of guns and mortars.

Maybe it's the difference in profenciency?

Thanks......

Hi Drew.....how are you? Sorry for the delay, I just noticed your post....yeah, my first choice was definetly the good guys in gray but my English opponent wanted the glory of leading the South to victory!

You know we Southerners did not really loose that war.....At Appomattox Robert E. Lee just came by for a visit and upon entering, thought that Grant (so Shabbily dressed) was a servant and handed him his sword...when it was discovered that this was really the Union General...Lee was too proud and honorable to take his sword back.....
