We all know that Dr. Freeman is mysteriously awakened by the powers-that-be when the time is right for his next big adventure, but where is he during the time in-between? Is he being held captive somewhere or in some kind of stasis?

The G-Man puts him into nothingness. An empty dimension. Obviously Gordon is in complete stasis as his friends notice he hasn't aged.

Yes, I mean Gordon Freemon. Where is he when he is not out crushing monsters and saving the world?
it seems really weird as im sure ive seen g-man exit the place though a door or something. Otherwise, i agree with whip.
I cant wait for ep 2 as it seems alyx to be in the same place.

Well, the G-Man does exit through a "door".
But think of it this way.
Every time he rips that open, he is "tripping the rift", and walking through dimensions, AND TIME. So It appears "doorlike" but its him just opening the portal to a different world.
