At wargamer.com there's a good preview of AATF. The new interface and map look great! :joy:

Binder- thanks for the heads-up on that review. I thought it was a good summary on the game, as well as a cool look at XRAY. This quote from the review summed up the AATF/ATF series nicely:
"I know some players have different standards, but for me just having a plain display that actually looks and feels like being back in a battalion TF tactical operations center carries a lot of weight. Believe me, there is nothing fancy at O'dark-thirty in the morning when doing this stuff for real."
Da't true.
I think it's good that someone with relevant military experience wrote the preview for AATF. I wish we would have had something like this back when I was in. Would have made those CPX's more interesting.
Great review - Glad to see any and all info coming out on AATF -
I wish they'd start releasing a little more each and every week -

Copy that HARRY 4-6. So is LZ EASTWOOD secure? Can the rest of STRIKE (2BCT/101) use the airstrip? :D

HARRY four-six:
The capital is a tough nut to crack - much tougher than EASTWOOD. You need to utilize those Longbows really well in order to execute this mission. In this context, remember the Longbow is a 'Deep Strike' weapon - it can project power non-linearly into the enemy's rear area. So throw out flanks and lines when using it.
In SHUGART-GORDON this means:
(1) recon the entire AO (you will find lots of good targets, such that you need to prioritize - don't waste 1 Hellfire or 1 HEDP :bite:),
(2) control enemy's axes into SHUGART-GORDON, especially ARTY ROAD - you need to have an airframe over that axis the entire mission,
(3) kill every enemy AFV *before* landing infantry,
(4) use Longbow as 'stand-off' weapons, i.e. don't get closer than 600 meters or so of enemy's machine gun and RPG fire arcs. Nothing ends your chances of taking SHUGART-GORDON faster than losing a Longbow :o
