I used to like ampulomets but no more - they are too expensive for their effect. They only sometimes kill open top vehicles and only from <250m.. Only if you have hot weather you can set forests on fire with it to scare infantry :)

It is cool but useless (imho)

Though at-rifles didnt do much good to me, i dont buy them regularly either, only when i have some points and i dont know what to buy.

Better take a good at-gun ;)

A couple of AT rifles will keep any half tracks or armoured cars from getting too close.
They are also very hard to spot by the enemy.
Also the 50 ammo AT has a slightly better kill chance against 60 deg armor.

so in november 41 what is the best russian AT-gun? i usually pick a wrong gun and end up with a short barreled infantry support gun.

AT rifles are useful for urban combat when dealing with light tanks and halftracks, I usually play the Gemans and I've found AT rifles to be more of a scourge to my forces in urban fighting than ampoulmets. AT rifle rounds are much more accurate than ampoulets and don't require a vehicle to be unbuttoned or open topped to be effective. Also, even if they won't necessarily kill medium tanks, AT rifles penetration still has a chance of killing or injuring tank crews.

If you aren't going to be doing any urban operations, then I would recommend using an AT gun. The russians have an excellent 7.62mm AT gun. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Russians also have a 90mm Flak gun available to them in 1941 as well which performs very well in the AT role.

When it comes to picking guns, AT or otherwise, when you run the pointer over in the buy screen it will give details below.
Such as men, ammo, gun etc.
For the gun the info is for example 76.2mm L/42 where L is the barrel length.
The longer the barrel, the higher velocity, the better to kill tanks, so the theory goes.

The AT rifles seem to do a pretty good job of at least forcing light skinned vehicles to reverse up close. As far as the AT guns go......The 57mm is hard to beat vs german armor at most any range if AT guns are what you are after.

I've had lots of fun with AT rifles. Even at considerable ranges, I have seen them be very effective against halftracks. Without ATR's, the German could easily use haftracks against infantry. With ATR's, most German players either hide their halftracks or eventually lose them.

Also, in groups they can be effective against AT guns.

I seem to remember a long post at Battlefront that went into great detail about ATR uses.

41 is too early for 57mm zis-2, zis-3 will go everytime for russians, classic.
Though you almost cannot kill tiger with it in the game.
