strange bug here.
as I am back into playing and designing scens..(fall and winter makes more time available for that)... I reinstalled all my TOAW stuff on a new laptop, 2.00 Ghz, lots of RAM (1024), etc.
and while TOAW (300) plays (only when outlokk is not running!!!??)
the editor never works and it always tells me that not enough resources are available to run the program... and it shuts down...
strange?
anthing that I should change in my config? ok, lots of anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. run in the background, but...
It's not a toaw bug - something is taking too much RAM from your comp...
OK, this was obviously. But the editor is well know for soaking RAM, though with 1GB this should be no problem. Check the Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del or Strg-Alt-Entf on german keyboards..depending where you live in the Schweiz) which programm uses how much ressources..and what programms or services run in the background.
I have 192 MB  , but no problem with the editor, even with firefox and thunderbird running.
Do you have ServicePack2 ?
Is your anti virus programm up to date?
Maybe your RAM is broken.
Check this by restarting your comp and/or by running a RAM test programm like MemTest or Prime95 (both freeware - just 'google' it and you'll find it).
The show must go on!;)
Edit: Aha, i just saw you're from Genf. Forget about Strg-Alt-Entf..nevermind
Does this always happen? Or just when you're connected to the internet?

it always happens. I will try ctrl-alt-del and memcheck.

nope, still Error #9.grr
just to be sure - you got directX 9.0 ?
Could also be a problem with your graphic card. I suggest you post in the toaw3 support subforum at Matrix.
Dumb question: are you per chance trying to launch a second instance of ACoW?

... most being company spyware to check what I do...and what I look at on the internet ;)
That can pretty well be the cause.

How do you mean this? No DirectX? TOAW3 requires DirectX 9.0 to run. As it runs in the normal play mode, it should be installed, please check if you've got the latest version though i don't believe this is the reason for your problem.

did I say TOAW III? I meant COW

Oh...:o
Okay. Have you tried to run it in the compability mode for win98?
Did you try removing the antispyware programs running in the background (if you can) to see whether it improved the situation or not?
By the same token, did the installation of CoW proceed smoothly, i.e. without errors?
Lol. Piero will soon be drowned under piles of friendly advice!
