Hey guys, I played harpoon like crazy back when it first came out. I decided to dig out my old disks and play.

I realized I had a problem wehn all I could find was my Harpoon Classic for Windows 3.1 update to vrsion 1.53b floppy disk.

Between googling and download.com adn everything else I can think of --- I have the game ALMOOOOOST working. But, I'm missing the original battleset that came with the disk (I cant find my !#^!!@#%! original install disks).

Does anyone have a clue where I can find them? The dataset that I seem to be needing is GIUK.RES (or something like that).

Any suggestions?

thanks,

tim

PS Is Harpoon 3 cool? It sounds like it. I'd love to find a demo to try...but all the demo links seem to have been disabled from their site. anyone know where/how to get one?

Hi shipmate,

I can't help with the first question, however, I still have the demo of H3 lying around and you're welcome to download it.

Just follow the white rabbit::D

Have fun and I hope we'll soon welcome you to H3!

Welcome back to Harpoon. :)

The Harpoon Classic battleset you're looking for has been posted to the SZO File archives (http://www.strategyzoneonline.com/forums/downloads.php?do=cat&id=52). I hope that it is what you are looking for and works. See you soon with the Harpoon Classic Commanders Edition that will be released in the near future!

First problem solved - I found my Harpon Classic CD. FINALLY. (It was in my daughter's Frogger jewel case...I wonder how that HAPPENED! hahahaha)

Thanks for the link to the demo Arno.... I'm trying to get it to work now. I've been dying to play this game again --- and if H3 is as good as it sounds, I'm gonna be all over it as soon as I rake up the $50. :-)

thanks again!

Arno, that link doesn't seem to work now, and all of the googled links for the demo point back to a broken link at the Advanced Wargames site. Could you make that hot again, or does anyone else know where a viable download link for the demo might be...I'd like to check it out. It's been the better part of a decade since I've played any computer version of Harpoon.

This hosting site where I posted it seems to be quite unreliable... I'll look around for a better site and post it again.

I gotta run now, but I'll try to get it up (no pun intended) tonight. :D

yes Arno,

I was also unavailable to download it. Hotmail has a mailbox limit of 250mb - you can always email it to me. My email is timphillips13@hotmail.com

I'm 90% certain H3 will be the #1 thing on my Christmas list this year. ;-) (I just have to try it first to raise that to 100%! hahahaha)

Any idea why the manufacturer removed the demo from their site? It worries me a little, that if a producer isn't willing to let people demo it, maybe it means it isn't that good.... *sigh*

A demo of H3 v.3.6 was available until recently at the AGSI site. It appears that AGSI has removed most if not all material relevant to v3.6 as part of their refocusing on v3.7+ (ie. H3-ANW). This likely includes the v3.6 demo.

It's been sent. Hope that it satisfies your need/curiosity. :)
