Imagine the following situation.
Suppose I have a formation of several units and I move them towards the enemy as one stack. In other words, they all stop in a single hex facing the enemy.
I select "Single Group Attack" ordering the formation to assault the enemy. However, it turns out that only some of the units can actually assault. Others have, say, only 1 movement point left. There's nothing I can do with those units; I can neither move them or assault with them.
However, I can give them the "Dig In" order so they go over to defensive while their comrades jump the enemy.
Would it make sense? Would it offer the selected idle units some extra protection while the enemy counterattacks? It should, IMHO, although I never tried this in practice.
