I guess I forgot to post that the second scenario of the tourney "HSG AM First Clash" would begin on EDIT!!!! September 30th! :halo: I wanted to make sure all the new guys were comfortable with the PBEM system before handing them a second game.

So...

I will be posting the new matchups on Thursday and sending out the files Fri/Saturday.

Also- we've had a player drop from the tourney, if there's another "Newbie" who wants in please post here ASAP.

Kerry,

I was allies in the first game, (and Neon was axis). You have us reversed in this matchup.

I refrained from reading the axis briefing you sent. CVan you confirm that you want us to switch sides?

thanks,
Rick

Kerry,
It looks like Stndrtnfhr and I got reversed too.... I was the allies last game.

Hi Kerry. Guys...

Seems like I've been reversed too. I'm currently playing the Germans at StE 1, but I'm listed as the Allies in my StE 2 game with Cherper.

I still have to receive any briefing files for this one, though, so I haven't read anything... Promise ;)

Thanks and keep us posted,

miguel.

+1, I guess the full sides were swapped. Not a problem for me.

NO ONE IS TO SWITCH SIDES!!!! My fault I will correct that ASAP!!!!
PLEASE DON"T READ THE FILES!!!!

HOWEVER!! My PC died yesterday and I have no way to get to any of my CM files until I get it fixed.

I will post as soon as I can get everything corrected!

No problem for me, I still haven't read the files. You might want to query, though if thats the case for all.

Sorry I read the files. I got them before I saw that I was to be the allies again, so I went ahead and opened them and looked through them.

I got the files for the wrong (Axis) side too and didn't realise it was a mistake. I haven't read the tactical briefing (as I was going to wait for my opponent to start the game first) but I did read the admin briefing and saw the Axis password. I hope that doesn't compromise the game.

Kerry,

I regret to say that I've read the Allies intel briefing, analyzed the Allied units, and reviewed the terrain. There's no way I could switch back to the Axis and have this still be considered a blind scenario.

Just FYI. I await your guidance.

Sorry, I also read the .doc files in the email.

Ok, as everyone is telling what their status is, I should mention again, just in case, that I was reversed and didn't receive any files, so I haven't read anything that I shouldn't.

Kerry, I'm sure that everyone here wants you to take your time. Almost all of us have one game already going, so no hurries.

Meanwhile, will check the forum occasionally for news, etc.

Later,

miguel.

After playing the first round as Allies (sort of--my opponent dropped out), I received files for the Axis this time around. Haven't read them yet, but I see that my opponent this round has.

Standing by, not sure what we are going to do from here...

Personally, I don't see a problem, we have seperate threads for both scenarios. My recommendation is to just go with that. Not harm, no foul.

Those that have already read the files have kind of made this a non-issue, which I think it was to begin, since both scenarios have their own threads.

I am just casting my vote. I DO NOT DECIDE THIS ISSUE!!! KERRY DOES!!!!

We will do what he says not what I say.....

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

I assume that the second round is an axis attack round. If so I would prefer to keep the same side as I was axis defending in the first round. I really would not like to defend twice in a row. I have not read the allied brief I was sent.

Stndrtfhr out!

Ah, Now I see the issue. I hadn't thought of that, but you're probably right. That would make since for Palantir to do to kind of balance the tourney for new guys who need to experience both attack and defend.

I'll go with whatever Palantir decides. And if it means waiting while he finds anohter scenario, I can do that too.

I'm enjoying my first scenario, Klementina. (well, so far anyway *s*).

Hey All,

Still don't have my PC back & don't know when so, just play the side you were sent.

As MR said no harm-no foul as we still have 2 more scenarios to test your skills against. :nofear:

The idea was to have everyone play as the attacker (or defender) in one of the first 2 scenarios and not as the attacker (defender) in both of them.

This will be corrected in rds 3 & 4. :halo:
I'm not sure how I made those errors until I get my PC back. :hmmm:

Best of luck to everyone, I hope you enjoy this second scenario!

First Clash is what you are going to make of it...it is a Meeting Engagement(ME)!

ME's are notorious for both sides rushing the flag. What you will soon discover, if you play many of my scenarios, is that I rarely do things the way other designers do them. In this case, the Soviets start the scenario sitting on some of the flags...

So, do you advance and take more flags? Do you sit still and try to hold what you've got? Do you seek hull down positions and see what the Romanians are going to do?

What do you do?

First Clash is a tank fight! It is not your normal I attack you defend kind of scenario...unless you turn it into that. I would expect a tank battle to be fairly fluid...at least it was during playtesting....:D

And as Kerry says, there are still two more scenarios to go! Both of them are...shall we say, challenging?! :halo:

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

This is all Palantir's work! All the organising was his doing, and a great job he has done too!!

My part in this is to sit back and give tactical advise when and where I think it can make you all better players.

I have played exactly one ladder game, against the currently reigning ladder leader, he stomped me in a mud hole. :crosseye:

I have played in exactly one tournament(ROW IV I think) and was put out in round 1.

But I have playtested dozens of scenarios and gone head to head with some of the best CM gamers out there! Including from this site!

If you have questions ask them. One of my toughest opponents is General Failure! He is one of the best CM gamers I have ever seen. That's why we asked him to participate in the teaching role. His credentials look a lot like mine. :nervous:

I spend most of my time in the CM editors making scenarios, so I'm not a great gamer like Nemisis Lead or some of the others here, but I have played enough of them to know what works, and how to at least make it tough on them to beat me!!!

So, ask GF and I your questions. We'll do the best we can to answer them! All of them! I will normally try to answer your questions before you ask them. That way you don't have to wait for the answer to use the recommendation. BUT I flunked mind reading, so help me out with your questions when you have them!

Good Luck and Good Hunting.

I just wanted to make sure you're informed that my PC is down and therefore I'm CMBB-less = (

Totally sucks, but it means I can't be in the tourney = (

Thanks for your hard work anyway

Please let me know by e.mail if there's any problems, as I can't log on to the forums often (e.mail is okay on PDA, web surfing is problematic)

ALL!!! If you finish this scenario very quickly and if you did it will be with a Romanian loss...maybe you could play it again. Ask your opponent to switch sides...or take the same sides if you think you can do better a second time...
