As we approach release on this newest addition to the ProSIM family, we thought we would give all of our fans a sample of what was in store for the final release. We have just released the BETA DEMO version of Air Assault Task Force.

This playable DEMO contains only two scenarios, set at the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The first is an airfield seizure. The second is an air assault on the fabled city of Shugart-Gordon. Both of these scenarios also ship with the release version of the game. The Flash-based tutorial is also included with this DEMO version.

The DEMO lacks the full featured scenario builder, multiplayer (up to 10 players), and 100-page printed manual that will ship with the release version of the game. Also, unlike the release version, it cannot be installed over our previous, ATF Engine games to instantly upgrade those games.

To download the DEMO, go to:

Stay tuned to the AATF website at:

for updates on this ultra-realistic game as it nears release. We will be frequently posting updates on the production schedule, latest news, and press releases about the game.

Does the beta Version of AATF install (or need) DirectX 9 ??

I have a rig I don't want DX9 on (staying with DX8 for compatibility reasons).

Would like to play test AATF on this rig ...but again don't want DX9 installed.

The game does not require DX 9, nor will it try to install it forcably. (DX 9 is included on the disk in case you WANT to install it).

The game DOES require DX 8.1 or later.

Given the TacAI, I think AATF could do whatever it wants and would not put up with any whining from any PC that fought back.

Maybe I'm missing something here - But have others checked the "fire teams" with regard to the seize the Airfield mission (within the Beta).

It looks as if the "fire teams" only have M136 84mm rockets within their loadouts....(no M-16's).

The MG Teams carry SAWs / 9 mm.....and the Motar Teams seem outfitted correclty.

But the "Fire Teams" don't seem to have any M-16's / M-4's??

Or am I missing something? (which I very well could be).

Not all of the weapons are listed, because of room. We are planning a little scrollbar to show all of the weapons.

Meade95- start game, and once you do, the M-16A4's appear on the "fire team" unit screen. One weapon that appears missing is the SAW (M-249) however - it appears in the 'fire arc' range finder, but not the unit screen.

The MG Teams carry the M-240, not the SAW, which are inherent to the squad level, whereas the M-240 is inherent to the plt level. The M-240 fires 7.62mm round that does a lot more damage than the M-249. M-240 is also a lot heavier but that extra weight is worth it, as the weapon is very durable, very accurate and never jams.

I'm not showing any US Fire Team with M-16A4's - All of my simple show under their "unit" tab -

US Fire Team

Rocket M136 84mm
Melee Bayonet Charge
GL M203 40 mm

ATGM Team show

ATGM M98A1 Javelin
Pistol M9 9mm
Melee Bayonet Charge

US MG TEAM
MG M240G (7.76)
Pistol M9 9mm
Melee bayonet Charge

Right now, all of the weapons do not get listed in this window. We will add a scroll bar so you can see them all for the final release.

Pat - I understand this (and I know you already addressed it.....thanks on that).

I was simply looking to reply back to James....(and to see if his Beta version was showing different Stats with regard to weapons in the unit display boxes).
