Hi, I just got Campaign Peninsula and love it. I was wondering if there was a way to let the AI play itself without having to OK through the end of turn reports. You could do this on the Talonsoft games, but I can't see it on this.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks.
Just click "manual" for both sides in the setup dialogue. Then, instead of you playing against the stupid AI, you can watch the stupid AI play stupid itself . . . You'll still have to click the 'advance' buttons and such though.
Go to the "Settings" Menu and select "On Map Results"...this will display the results on the map and do away with the dialog box, and the need to click, all together.

But...at the end of each turn, it will still come up with a message saying reinforcements have arrived, such and such a unit is routed and so on. Even with the on-map results, I still have to click through those. So I can't just let the AI run itself for an entire battle while I'm not there.
Why would you want it to if you're not there? . . . Are you entertaining the cat?

Yeah...the cat likes the Civil War.... ;)
I'm weird, probably, but I ran every Talonsoft battleground game through when I was at work and came back to see the result.... Mainly to get an idea of the AI tactics and goals....
I did the same thing once with a fulle battle of Gettysburg, but was so dissapointed with the results I never did it again.
You can do it with these games too...just fire up a normal scenario, then set both players to Auto with FOW - then when the box pops up to say "Confederate Turn" just right click on it, and it will display, then go away, at the beginning of each turn. No other dialogs popup...I just let it run a 16 turn scenario with reinforcements for both sides and it ran all the way through. Press the F8 key activates Fast AI Processing, and it will move through the process much quicker.

But after a defensive fire turn, or a melee phase, it will pop up a message that needs an OK before it will do the next turn, right?
Example: [0 of 2 units disrupted]
The superfast AI is great....
Don't set the game to run in phases - i.e. deselect the Manual Defensive Fire option and select the Auto Defensive Fire option and the game will run in "turns" instead.

Ah! Didn't try that. And that won't come up with a message at the end of turn?
Also, rather than starting another topic (I did look for duplicates), is there any way to put the BG 2d counters in (the ones of the man/horse/cannon which don't show facing), I'd dearly like that if it is possible.
Thanks.

Nope, no dialog boxes at all, once you right-click on the first Turn window, as described above.

You could edit the 2DSymbolsLg.bmp file in the \Map sub-directory for the appropriate game if you wished.

*Panics like F quality militia* But...I'm hopeless at graphic editing! Has anyone done it already? I mean, I could, eventually do it...but it would be quicker if someone else has already done it.
I've looked through the downloads, and found nothing...yet.
Sorry man, I'm not a graphics dabler myself...nor have I seen this mod done before...maybe someone else here has though.

Okay, tried it on my PC now, I was away from my game machine before.
It works fine, but I STILL get an end of turn report, so I still have to click through that, even though I set it to turns instead of phases. Ah well, I'll just click through it, I guess.
